She was born March 9, 1912 of the late John and Betty Mae Edwards in White County. In 1940 in Old Shawneetown, she was married to Fred Watson who survives. She had resided in Shawneetown for 40 years and had been employed as a maid at the motel. Surviving besides her husband, Fred, are one son, Robert Cox of Carmi; four daughters, Madeline Cox of Chicago, Betty Lane of Cedar Hill, Tenn., Velma Lane of Shawneetown and Shirley Pritchard of Junction; one sister Mrs. Mary Grimaldi of Townsend, Wis.; 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Tom, and two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday April 5, at Wright Byassee Funeral Home in Shawneetown with the Rev. Earl Vaughn officiating. Burial was in McGhee Cemetery.
