I have been trying to find more info out about him. Could he have had a daughter Elisabeth who married Joseph HALL probably in Illinois around that time? If anyone sees this name in the midst of research, I'd apppreciate hearing from you. This has been a brick wall for many, many years. Elisabeth (1831-1899) spent her adult life in Rochester, NY, where she went to join the her husband's family after children George Adam and Maggie were born in Illinois (probably Chicago) in 1855 and 1857.
