Hi Rosa, I looked at ellisisland.org and I found Giov'i Chiavario, age 40, arriving from Italy February 3, 1896. The ship appears to be LaTouraine, but when I try to look at the manifest, it shows me the ship LaGascogne. Maybe someone else can help us with this. There was another Chiavario on the same ship. I believe it's a female named Giulia (does that seem feminine to you?) and she's 19 years old. Do you think this could be his wife? I really believe your Giovanni is the 73 year old I found in Bureau County as a widower in 1920, living with his daughter and son-in-law. His daughter's name appears to be May and she is 31 years old. Perhaps your Giovanni was married more than once? Take a look at it and see what you think.
