He was a Private in Co C, 120th Infantry Volunteers. He enlisted from either Posey County, Indiana or another adjecent one. His Company Commander was a Capt. Knowles from his home county. He is said to have died in Saline Co., IL in 1895. They have no record. Thanks for the info, I'll add Pope Co. to my search.
