Smith, according to 1900 census born in KY but son's death certificate says IL. Andrew (AJ) Smith b. abt 1823 Sp: Hepsebeth Jane Crain b. abt 1848 in AR, they had following children: Thomas Andrew Smith born 17 Jun 1870, Boone Co, AR Ruthey (Ruthie?) M. Smith born 1872, Boone Co, AR There was a third child listed but no names. There was probably another wife but have not found any positively. During this time they lived in Jefferson Township, Boone Co, AR ( Boone Co was formed from Carroll Co and several other Counties in 1869) Hepsebeth went by Jane. After the 1900 census AJ disappears but the rest of the family along with mom (Jane) and sister reappears in the 1910 census of Bryan Co, Oklahoma. AJ does not, I can not find any records on him after the 1900 census. AJ may have had a brother or other close relative named William Garret Smith who according to FHL married Hepsebeth Jane Crain. Could AJ have married Jane after his brother or other relative? possibly, as it did happen alot during those times. Thomas married Frances Price and they had 7 children. They moved to the Hollis, OK area around 1929 and the family stayed there until 1949 when they moved to Kern Co, CA; where they remain today. Ruthey married a James Cain around 1903 in Boone Co, AR. I have no other info on ruth except I have heard they may have lived in Louisiana. I have an extensive history from Thomas to present day but nothing on AJ or his parents. AJ's parents were born in VA and NC according to the 1900 census but no names. AJ has been my brickwall forever. As far as family lore goes, we have the usual native american stories, however, my grandfather spoke fluent indian according to my uncle ( grandpa was born in Indian Territory, OK and supposedly went to an Indian school until he was ten). Any help greatly appreciated and am willing to share.
