I received a muster in/out record for an ancestor who served in Battery M, First Light Artillery Regiment from Thornton Cook County IL in 1864. He was discharged in 1864 due to disability having only served a few months. This info came from Illinois State Archives. Today, I sent for a Compiled Military Service File from NARA. Does anyone know if this will contain a Pension Application if he submitted one because of his disability? Joan in Illinois
The compiled service record will not contain the pension information. That needs to be ordered separately. We have posted articles on Civil war pensions on our site at: http://www.rootdig.com/pensions/ Michael On Mon, 07 Feb 2005 17:49:34 -0800 (PST), JOARDITH@aol.com <JOARDITH@aol.com> wrote: > I received a muster in/out record for an ancestor who served in Battery M, > First Light Artillery Regiment from Thornton Cook County IL in 1864.
