It is especially tough when the first names are common-both my great grandfather and gg grandfather are named John. Anyway I am posting this message for those of you searching in Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Southern Illinois in hopes we can find some connections. So, if you are Clark hunting in one of these areas, feel free to join "the club" Here are my particulars: My gg grandfather, John Clark, born about 1849, probably Illinois. His parents were probably born in KY or TN. John married Malinda Wilkerson (b 1854) in 1870 in Franklin County, IL. They had a son, John P., born between 1871-1873 in Spring Garden, Jefferson County, IL. They then moved to Arkansas, and had a son, William, born about 1875/6 and a daughter, Sarah, born about 1878/79. In 1880, they are living in Christian, Independence, Arkansas. I do not know what happened to John 1849, Malinda, William or Sarah after that. The 1871/3 John is my great grandfather. In 1892 he married Laura Reed in Jackson County, IL. John and Laura had the following children: Eva 1896-?, Walter 1899-1971, Ava 1901-1963, Floyd, 1903-?, Susie, 1906-1935, Fred Willis 1916-2001. Sometime after 1920 they moved from Carbondale to East St Louis. John 1871 died in 1951. 2 siblings of his were still living--Mrs Ollie Gibbs of E St Louis and Harrison Clark of Fayette Co., IL. It could be they were half siblings. Susie married Archie Edwards and had 6 children. On of them, Evelyn, married a McCoy. Ava married a man named Wade, and later a man named McCaslin. John and Laura had, according to the 1920 census, a grandaughter named Louise Tweedy, born 1915. Fred Willis is my grandfather. Walter's middle name was Cavaness. Basically I am trying to learn more about John 1849,Malinda, William, Sarah, any other wives and children John 1849 had, the KY/TN connection, and all descendants (other than Fred Willis). Fred
