    1. Re: [ILROOTS] IL State Archives
    2. Hi Cris, I went to the Illinois cyberdrive site and input the basic of Fitzsimmons and statewide and yielded nothing and then input the first part of the name, which would be Fit (which would give you Fit, plus everything after that basic name), and found no Lawrence... Then I did the same for the full name Riley and Ril and found no Bridget. Next, I was curious as to whether Warren County even had ANY marriages from that time frame in the database. So I in put Fit.. Warren county and found none. But, I put in Ril - Warren County and found about a dozen Riley's, none of which were Bridget. But it did tell me that there were marriage records from as early as 1840 in the database (there were some from 1860, too). Are you sure that Lawrence went by that name and are you sure that Mary Riley wasn't married before? She may have went by either a different first name - or even a different last name. For example, my G Grandmothers name was Jeannette - but she went by the name of either "Bid" or "Nettie". Go figure... It could be that this document doesn't exist in the archives at all because of improper filing - or it may be sitting in a basement somewhere and not archived - or worse yet - was destroyed in a fire. If I were you I would call, not write, the county in question and tell them what you are looking for. They would be the best guides for you.
