    2. Bettye, You may be right, but when I google "Washington State Vital Records" I get lots of hits which LOOK like official state records. When I open them, however, they really are Ancestry sites. I'm not responding to an ad, but I get Ancestry. Others on the list have responded to me with websites which give me small pieces of Wash. data, like Walla Walla's death index for 1903-1906. Or the 1910 federal census index (no images). This is piecemeal data, not anything like IRAD. The state's official site touts the fact that they are the first in the world to go digital with their records. Big deal, if there's too little there to be useful. You still have to know the date of an event to get a record, and there's no general index to let you search for a date. If you can suggest something specific that works better than what I'm doing, I would be most grateful. I have used the Ancestry boards, but haven't found much response when I only know that the family was in the state. I ! admit I haven't used it for these Washington families, and I'll go do that before I give up on them. It doesn't seem reasonable that I should be able easily to get 17th c. data from NY but not 20th c. data from WA! Thanks, Doris -- BHold1@aol.com wrote: I'd be interested in others you have, as doing a google search gives many, many hits, but almost all of them boil down to Ancestry, which I don't have I bet you are responding to a surname search advertisement that shows up on a lot of sites, because I use Google on a regular basis and never end up on Ancestry.com. I do have a subscription. Don't forget to use the free message boards on Ancestry.com. Bettye ==== ILROOTS Mailing List ==== Do you have a resource you could share with the list members?
