My cousin remembers Lena telling her about it, that she was 9 years old, and had to wear tags to communicate where she needed to go--she didn't speak any English. The story was, that Albert and Lena lived on the same street in the same village in Bohemia, but never knew eachother. Not sure how Lena ended up in Des Moines, or if she made it to her sister. I'll check on it. Haven't been able to find ANYTHING in the Czech Passenger lists or Ellis that would match Lena's description. It's hard, because many described Bohemia as being under Germany, Austria, or Hungary at that time...I know some Bohemians were German-Bohemians...it gets confusing when you read on the history of Czech Republic!
