Author: chatterchit Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12793.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I think your best bet would be to get their divorce records. Were you born in Chicago? If so, then their divorce was probably in Chicago. You want to try to find his birth date. If you can find that, it will be easier to check nationwide public records for him. You'll get too many hits with just Joe or Joseph White. Can you find out his birthday? Do you have a copy of their marriage license? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: annageis76 Surnames: oney Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12792/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching the Epperson family. Frances Grant Epperson married Viola Bell Oney. Frances met Viola Bell while he was stationed at Warren Base in Cheyenne, Wyo and she was from Greeley, CO. I have info that Viola Bell Oney had a sister named Betty and an aunt named Blanche. (Frances Grant died 2/27/1979 in Santa Rosa). Viola and Frances had two sons, James and Herbert) There are 5 Oney family members buried in the Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, Co and I am wondering if there is any connection of these people to Viola Bell Oney. Nancy J. Oney b) 1823 in Illinois d) 12/9/1912 widowed in the 1910 census Harriett b) 1862 in Illinois d) 12/5/1927 Daughter of Nancy J. Oney Lincoln H. Oney b) Jan 1860 in Ill d) 5/21/1938 married Fannie B ?? abt 1892 Fannie B. ?? d) 12/13/1940 The 1900 census shows they had a son Roscoe. He does not appear in the 1910 census, so this may be the infant with unknown info in the Linn Grove Cemetery. The 1910 census show 2 children: Dana and Lydia. If anyone can help me connect the Oney family in the Linn Grove Cemetery to Viola Bell Oney from Greeley, I sure would appreciate the help. I am planning a trip to Greeley and hope to find the obits of Nancy, Harriet, Lincoln and Fannie. Maybe that will also help with the infant. Author: kmccartney17 Surnames: Gifford Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12789.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have no idea if this helps but I have Gifford's as very distant cousins. The father George Lewis Gifford, born March 27, 1824 in Sherburn New York married Clarinda Quigley born Feb. 20, 1830 Switzerland Co., Indiana. They had 7 children all born in Iowa, 2 buried in Osborne Kansas and the rest in Debuque or Littleport Iowa. The names are: Esther,(1849) Amira,(1851) Socrates,(1853) Horatio,(1855) Prentice,(1857) Ezra, (1860) and Annice,( 1862). Socrates died at 6 years of age. The oldest lived to be 93 and that was Ezra. They all married in Iowa in the 1800's. George's father is listed as Asoph Willey Gifford and mother Hulda(h) Pendle. It doesn't say where they are from. George is buried in the Union Cemetery in Littleport, Iowa and he died Sept. 7, 1896. This info is from a written family genealogy that I helped create when I was in high school and my grandmother was 86 in 1971. This may help and it may not but there could not have been to many Gifford's from New York at that time. If you want to know who each child married I can tell you that and the date but that is all that I have. My family tree went the other way. In 1850 he arrived in Muscatine, Iowa, where he worked as a sawyer. Edmond J. was married to Nancy Ann Renfro Warren on May 7, 1858 at Rock Island, Illinois. Nancy had a son by A. J.
