Author: andrearounds Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12815.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jim, Thank you for your reply. We believe that our Myrtle Haley died of pneumonia in January of 1911, in Joplin, Jasper, MO, and is buried in Galena, Cherokee, Kansas, in what is now known as the Oak Hill Cemetery, but we need to look more closely because it seems there may have been more than one couple named John & Myrtle Haley in the Kansas-Missouri area. Thank you for telling me about the widow Myrtle Haley in the 1920 census. I will have my niece look it up on Ancestry.com and send it to me through email. Thank you very much. Author: wardrop173 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12815.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, it looks like you have the 1900 and 1910 Census for the John and Myrtle Haley family. I couldn't find much more on the sons. It appeared on the 1910 Census they also had a son Sidney Haley, born in 1904. In 1920 Census I found a Myrtle Haley in Joplin, Missouri, widow, born 1888 in Kansas.( This is where she lived with John Haley on the 1900 Census.) The date she was born is over some years off, but the census taker could have taken the wrong date. Jim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: dicktague58 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12818.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: You are welcome Carol but after we have found the basic essential information on our people, we want to find them on all available census records. It gives us more data to work with. You had them on the 1920 yet used none of that information to request a look-up for them on the 1910. Blount, without indicating if it's a twp. or community and without a county is not usable information. When you view the 1910 census it will indicate they had been married circa 9 years. Charles was also on the 1900 with his parents in Vermilion county. Good luck in your research. Dick Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I believe they had 3 children; perhaps more: Claude E. VanVickle b. 23 Jul 1902 who went on to marry Margaret Leighton (perhaps IA in the 1930's). Claude died in 1982 in Iowa and Margaret in 1990. They had two sons. I am indirectly related through my Leightons. I met the family when I went with my mother and aunt to bring my grandmother's body back to Iowa for burial in Lone Tree Cemetery. Guy VanVickle b. abt. 1905 Sarah M. VanVickle b. abt. 1910 The only information I found on Charles and his wife was in the 1920 census of Blount, Illinois where he was a farmer. Author: andrearounds Surnames: Haley, Hulsey Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12815/mb.ashx Message Board Post: We are searching for my husband's Haley family. His mother Catherine Haley Rounds, was virtually abandoned when she was 2 years old in California. Her parents were John and Rose Etta Hulsey Haley. John's parents were John and Myrtle ? Haley. Many in these 2 families moved from the tri state mining area (Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri) around 1922 to CA. The elder John indicated in the 1900 and 1910 census that he was born in 1880 in Illinois. I don't know if the elder John moved to Calif. or not, but the younger John (born in 1900 in Missouri) did, and is buried there. Please, if any of this sounds familiar to anyone please contact me. We are having a very hard time finding these ancestors. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
