If you are still interested in these people, contact me at rchrdcck@aol.com. My family was from KY to Ind. to Coles Co. YOUR group was the Tennessee family that lived near my family. I've followed your family a little bit just to keep the names straight. Sometimes it is as important to know whose you aren't as it is to know whose you are. Kathleen (STANFIELD) COOK

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fh.2ADI/5699.1 Message Board Post: You really do need to contact the courthouses at Jacksonville (Morgan Co.) and Winchester (Scott Co.) to get those marriage records. The records for Morgan and Scott Counties that have been sent to IRAD are at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Macomb (Western Illinois University) has records from several counties WEST of the Illinois River. If you go to the Illinois Secretary of State website, you can check the IRAD depositories and see a descriptive inventory for each depository. I'm not sure what UIS has for Morgan and Scott Counties as far as marriage records. Kathleen (STANFIELD) COOK

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fh.2ADI/5700.1 Message Board Post: There is a way to do it but I can't remember exactly how to get the information. Get into the Illinois Department of Corrections website. (Can do it via google.) There should be a place where you can click to have someone check the old records for you. (It was very easy. Seems like I had to supply certain info. as requested by them.) I was helping friends, got the information, and sent it on its way. The two men we were researching were incarcerated in other state facilities in the 1940's. I imagine you can get similar info. from Joliet. The contact person sent photo copies of the pages from the record books (not just transcripts). Some of the info. included: personal info. about height, weight, number of children, etc. also criminal history, when released, to whom, where he had to report to a parole officer. If you can't find anything through the DOC website, contact me at rchrdcck@aol.com. I'll see if I can figure out how I got to the "contact person". Sorry I ! can't be of more help. 1. Re: [ILROOTS] ? for Chicago Natives, 1509 E 76th Place
    2. Hi Tim, I grew up in the general neighborhood and was born in the 30's. The Cook County Assessor has properties including pictures on line. Here's a link for your address: /www.cookcountyassessor.com/search/ParcelImage.asp?pin=20264160030000 At mapquest.com, I searched for the route from my last address in Chicago (in the 50's) to see what neighborhood it might be in and I think the neighborhood is known as Woodlawn, but maybe someone else on the list would know whether or not that is correct. I was born at Woodlawn Hospital and we lived at 6900 S. Woodlawn but as the family grew, we kept moving East ending up in a neighborhood known as South Shore. I know there are many articles, books, etc., on the South Shore area and perhaps on Woodlawn as well. Happy Hunting! Joan in Illinois
