    1. Re: [ILROOTS] marriage lookup please/brick wall
    2. Warren County marriage records are completely entered from 1831 to 1915. I looked at all the Riley brides and then used my edit key to find Fitz for the groom, but only came up with Fitzpatrick and Fitzgerald, nothing even close for your couple. Were they still alive in 1900? The US Census might give how long they'd been married. The only other thing I could suggest is that you try the Warren County Clerk's Office. Joan in Illinois

    1. Re: [ILROOTS] MITCHELL family marriage lookup request.
    2. I looked at the online marriage records. There is a Wilford but the marriage is for McDonough County November 17, 1864. You can view it at the Illinois State Archives site for online databases. Just search the Marriage Records database by putting in Mitchell, and you do need the comma after the last name. This will give you access to all the men named Mitchell in the State of Illinois prior to 1900 (some counties have put in later marriages if they had the info). You may find an approximate marriage date from 1920 or 1930 US census records. Joan in Illinois

    3. Bill, The link you provided takes me to the marriage records at the IL Sec. State site. These marriages are only through 1900. All of these guys would have married after 1900. Where did you see Christopher, Clarence and Wilford? 2. Try the Illinois State Archives at this site _http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/archives.html_ (http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/archives.html) If the global search works, it's very good. He's listed as a laborer in the census for 1900 in CA, so maybe he wasn't a farmer. He's also listed as a widower. Do you know if his wife died in Illinois and that's when he moved to California. Anyway, the best way to search is just by his last name and then check the results for Jens. The global search is temperamental but when it works, it is great. Joan in Illinois

    2. I searched Heritage Quest censuses for you. Closest to Harry was a Henry who was a tailor, could not speak, read or write any English and he was living in Cook County as a boarder with a small family. He was 24 in 1900 and immigrated in 1893. You might try ellisisland.org. If you could give any more pertinent information like your father's name and when he was born, also when your grandfather was born, it might be more fruitful. Joan
