James E. Reed born Peterborough New Hampshire 1842 the son of Erastus Reed and Betsy Mark. James' mother, Betsy, died between 1850 and August 1856 as James' father, Erastus, married 2nd to Mercy/Mary Greenwood in September 1856. Believe James may have married in Massachusetts as a daughter, Lizzie, born MA about 1865 - James Reed living Lee Centre, Lee County Illinois in 1870 census, he seems to be with his step-mother Mary. Toni: I grew up in Quincy, it's the county seat for Adams county. I don't recognize the name Fye or Maize? They have a nice Historical Society located in the public library, plus if you go to the Adams county court house you might find both Birth & Death certificates. Toni, I've looked around for a while and couldn't find anything on your gggAunt for you. Have you tried these volunteers for lookups? Since she was born and died there, it would seem they might have an obit or could tell you where to get one. They have some marriage records too. Perhaps they only lived in Illinois between censuses and if he didn't own land, there'd probably be no record. Joan in Illinois
