These are the balance of the Illinois links I have in my files that have been sent to the Candyman List. If I have a chance I'll go back through the Candyman early archives and see what I sent in before I started keeping links. I did the "Tiny URL's" because Yahoo, in all it's wisdom, changed the web pages and made them much more difficult to read. They also narrowed the actual reading space. If you read your mail on the web, you've noticed it. There are a couple of duplicates but I left them in. I had sent them to the Candyman List almost a year apart. After a period of time and thousands of links, I forget where I've been...and sometimes, where I'm going.<g> I have not rechecked the links; they worked when I originally sent them. Please note that Ancestry.com has changed a lot of the Rootsweb URL's so a lot of the older ones that lead to an entire database no longer work. The information is still there; you just have to work to find it. I also just picked up Vol. I of the Lincoln Series, ; Illinois Historical Collections, Vol. III. The Lincoln-Douglas Debates of 1858, published in 1908. It does have a few names in it and I'd be glad to do lookups if anyone wants one. Just make sure to put Lookups in the subject line so I don't delete you, what book you want a lookup from and send your request to BradLin000@aol.com. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fh.2ADI/5802.1 Message Board Post: The 1910 US Federal census shows Gilbert and Elizabeth residing in Chicago and had been married 1 yrs. The record indicates Gilbert came to US in 1898, no information regarding Elizabeth's arrival. The 1920 record indicates Gilbert came to US in 1895 and was naturalized in 1908. Gilbert's occupation was listed as manager of a mail order house. Elizabeth indicated in 1920 she did not know when she came to US. The 1900 census did not find an Elizabeth Walker born in Scotland abt 1879 in the US Federal census. The 1900 census shows a Gilbert Alexander in Brooklyn, Kings Co, NY, born Scotland. He is listed as single and residing in household of Frederick Beers who had several borders. Gilbert's occupation listed as commercial traveler and came to US in 1894. I checked the Ellis Island records online and found a Gilbert Alexander whose place of residence is listed as Chicago, IL. who had been abroad and was returning to the states. The date was July 23, 1923, age 48 and arrived on the SS Leviathan that left the port of Southampton on the 13 of July, 1923. The manifest indicates that this Gilbert had been naturalized in the circuit court of Cook County in 1905 and his address listed as c/o Sears and Roebuck. You can view this record for free...www.ellisisland.org. Death certificates often have the names of parents listed on them. I would suggest that would be the place to start in trying to identify the parents of this couple.

this has nothing to do with genealogy how did it make it onthe list, and why did I have to get it twice, its not always necessary to reply with the original especailly when its so long and boring and has nothing to do with this list? Hi, I'm not sure what you have and don't have, but I did find your family in 1910 and 1920 censuses. I'm sure they are in the 1930 as well but I don't have access to that one. I also found his death certificate no. at the Illinois State Archives. Also found him and maybe her at familysearch.com. Is any of this new to you or do you already have this information? Since he immigrated in 1895, you might want to try the Ellisisland.org site. You don't have to pay to register but to see the full record, you have to register with a password. Joan in Illinois
