    1. Re: [ILROOTS] Sam Fink's Index
    2. Joan, Why don't you try asking either Molly or Cynthia to check it out for you... Sometimes they will do that without charging the $4. fee for the cert (or you can just order the cert from them for the $4..LOL) - if you ask them just to take a peek, they may charge you 1.50 to 2.00 for that. Here are their websites: _www.mollx.com_ (http://www.mollx.com) Molly Kennedy (Springfield) _www.chicagogenealogy.com_ (http://www.chicagogenealogy.com) Cynthia Richardson (North) Good luck to you! 1. Sam Fink's Index
    2. There's a marriage online in 1856 which is marked FINK at the Illinois State Archives. Does anyone know if there is any further information available if I ordered this on film from FHL? I'd like to know the groom's age so I might be able to identify him. His name was pretty common in those days. The wife was only 14 years 10 months, and the husband was killed in the civil war. I sent for the civil war info from the Archives and I know that will give the age, but I thought I might find out sooner if I could find more on the film. Joan

    3. I will try and see what I can find for you. If you have most of your research done, I don't know if subscribing to genealogy.com is worthwhile. I have Ancestry. com also and really would like to drop one of them but can't decide which one. Ha. genealogy.com has it fixed so you can't always print something out or copy it to someone else, and it has more census indexed than Ancestry but I search the index on genealogy.com and then go to Ancestry and can copy or send others the image page of the census. I really don't need them anymore for myself unless they keep adding more data bases. I find rootsweb.com mail lists more useful. I do an awful lot of lookups for others now and since that is my main hobby I keep both Ancestry and genealogy.com so I can help others. I like the challenge of breaking down those brick walls :) Do you have birth record for Permelia? If you will let me know the first record you have for her so I won't repeat your work, that would save time. Even those records that turned out NOT be to be her. Get back with you later in next week. Ella

    3. genealogy.com has quite a bit on Jacob Constant and his family. There seems to be much in the book "History of the Early Settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois" on his family. I might be able to help you end of next week with quotes from this book if no one else can do it. Ella in Michigan My Illinois families McFarland and McIntyre, St. Clair and Bloomington 1830 - 1900.

    2. Have you looked at the records at familysearch.com? They say she was born 4 March 1809 in Sangamon County. There are names and addresses for the people who submitted this information. Maybe a postcard to one of them would help you obtain more info. Maybe someone with access to Ancestry could look for her father in the early 1800's in that county. Do you need help on the second wife as well? Joan

    1. Isaac Newton Waggoner b. 1809 Cincinatti d. 1877 Hancock Co IL Bible
    2. I am looking for an appropriate home for a family Bible belonging to Isaac Newton Waggoner and his wife Mary. She was b. Navoo, IL. He became a river boat pilot on the Missippi, and they raised a family of about eight children, all listed with birthdates. Some have spouses listed. Isaac's hand-written obit is included. One son, George, is listed, with descendants, in a page taken from a post-1900 county history from Hancock Co. While there are Isaac Newton Waggoners in my Moultrie Co. Ill family, this one is not among them. Nor does he seem to be among the Waggoners who founded Waggoner Ill, on the Interstate between St. Louis and Springfield. I have posted on the Hancock Co. List and the Waggoner list, with no response. I thought perhaps some descendants have moved elsewhere in the state. My first preference would be to get the Bible to a family member. If this information rings any bells, please contact me, and I will provide more. The Bible was given to me for postage, and I would pass it along the same way. I just want it in the right family. Thanks, Doris Waggoner Seattle

    2. "am looking for anyone that can tell me about the last name TERRIEN thank you." It's French. Could be spelled Ther(r)ien or Therrian - it's pronounced the same way with no "h" sound. Rootsweb has 1,058 matches for Therrien; 105 matches for Therrian and 340 matches for Terrien using their "SearchThingy" engine: http://sitesearch.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/search Try the New England states; they all have large ethnic French and French-Canadian populations. The New Hampshire border welcome sign is in French and English. Also try Louisiana and Canada - the northeast provinces (Nova Scotia, etc.) and Quebec. Linda Bee

    1. Re: [ILROOTS] Obituary Lookup
    2. How about when he was born so we know his age at death. Also if you know the daughter's name and if married, her husband's name, then we might be able to find the county. Did she have sibs--do you know anything about them? Without a county it will be next to impossible. Illinois didn't require death records until 1916. We did find a death announcement (nothing like an obit) for one great grandfather here in 1890 but not a thing for his wife in 1891. Joan in Illinois

His name is John Rupp he died July 12, 1890 while he was visiting his daughter there. We have no idea which county. We were also told he was brought back here to Pa to be buried, but that seems to still be a mystery. I know this vague and allot to ask, but any help would be great. :) Thanks in advance, Heather

    1. Re: [ILROOTS] Looking for Jasper Levi Smith..........
    2. I found this couple in the census in 1880 and 1900 in Fulton County, Illinois. His father was not born in Virginia. In 1880, they had a son, age 2, named Harry U. A 13 year old female was living with them by the name of Ida Broadstone. Under relation, it simply said Other, but I believe Broadstone could be Americanization of Bridenstein, which would make her Maggie's sister. In 1900, they had 2 daughters still at home, ages 16 and 12. She stated she had 5 children, 5 still living, so apparently 2 plus Harry had moved out. Do you think this could possibly be your family? 2. Do you know his wife's first name? I found this in Illinois Marriages: SMITH, JASPER L BRIDENSTINE, MAGGIE 01/07/1877 00E/0053 00000008 FULTON The numbers on the first line = volume and page number; second line is the certificate number and county. There are many, many Jasper Smith's in Illinois. Do you know if and when he moved out of the State? Joan in Illinois
