Go to the county board. In a google search for Marengo Illinois Cemeteries it lists 5. Also there is a McHenry county clerk site for vital records which lists death records are available from 1878 on, and their requirements to get them. Good luck.

    2. Try this _http://www.mcigs.org/indices.htm_ (http://www.mcigs.org/indices.htm) Illinois didn't require death certificates until 1916. I looked for her in the Illinois State Archives site. They had one from 1913 but none from 1900. Did she marry in Illinois? That site might have her marriage. Joan in Illinois

If you can find the daughter in the Illinois Death Index database at the Secretary of State Illinois website (click on Archives on the site), you could look up her obit to see where she might have been living when her father died. You can also look for John. For the death information, you will have to check the Pre-1916 database and the 1916 - 1950 database. Both are on the S.O.State website. Sorry to not be of more help. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fh.2ADI/5594.2 Message Board Post: I don't know who Frank is but my father, Anthony Huminsky was born in Detroit, Mi in 1918. He died in 1974. My father's father is buried somewhere in Kentucky as he died in a coal mine; not sure what year...I haven't checked into the information that I have..I know that my father's mother was Russian and she came to America with her father and 2 sisters and a brother named Nicholas. I don't know if she was married to a Huminsky when she came to America in 1917 but she had my father in 1918. My father had two real sisters, Julie and Pauline. Julie died as a child hit by a car; I don't know what age. My Aunt Pauline Dreksler (maiden name Huminsky) lives in Schaumburg, Illinois and I have not seen her for many years. I know she had a heart condition and because the family has been apart for many years I don't know if she is still with us. My father's mother married 3 times and a lot of the history is unknown..but she definitely came from Russia and I know that Huminsky also came from Russia. My father had 3 brothers and 1 sister before he was born; their last names were not Huminsky. I don't know if we are from the same clan...lol...I don't know if Grandpa Huminsky, after their divorce, had any more family anywhere or any siblings here in America. My email is above if you have any questions..I live in Chicago now, originally lived in Michigan where my siblings (Huminsky) are living. I stumbled over this website browsing the internet and looking for any Huminsky's...bye for now...hope to hear from you...

    1. Re: [ILROOTS] Sam Fink's Index
    2. If you ask, be sure to ask for the info on the back of the license. That's where the real data is. Doris Waggoner Seattle -- JOARDITH@aol.com wrote: There's a marriage online in 1856 which is marked FINK at the Illinois State Archives. Does anyone know if there is any further information available if I ordered this on film from FHL? I'd like to know the groom's age so I might be able to identify him. His name was pretty common in those days. The wife was only 14 years 10 months, and the husband was killed in the civil war. I sent for the civil war info from the Archives and I know that will give the age, but I thought I might find out sooner if I could find more on the film. 1. Re: [ILROOTS] Sam Fink's Index
    2. Hi Cynthia, From what I read online, I think Sam Fink got his information from newspapers of the day. I think he was trying to recreate records that had been burned in the Chicago Fire. I don't believe there would be a license or am I wrong? Where the certificate number would be on the Marriage Index, it just says Fink, no number is given. Joan
