Charles Jones married Fanny Frazier 4/2/1874 in Ogle County According to LDS records: James Leon Jones born Mar 8, 1894 died in Ogle County on March 21, 1936. I could not verify this death date with the Illinois death index. Although there's some conflicting data in the above, keep in mind there is much human error in written records. The IRAD for Ogle county may have other records which could help you. Also, if you like, I can further explore the Charles Jones family in earlier census data.

Thanks Joan. I found them both on the 1920 and 1930 censuses under LEE JONES, so sent both of them to her. They had another older daughter, Ruth, which she may not have known about. Hi Joan, Saw this query in my IL-list email and wondered if I might be able to help you out. I do have access to the 1930 census and could possibly look up something for you. I don't know what the original query stated, so maybe you could pass along that info and I will see if I can locate anything helpful. Are James & Harriet Jones Leah's parents? Any dates listed to help with their ages? I did see in the 1930 census a listing for the following information, and it caught my eye as your email below seemed to infer that Leah (?? last name) had died while James and Harriet were still living. I tried for you in the 1920 census for Illinois but there are so many James Jones. Do you know what state he (or Harriet) were born in? Maybe you can find them here in Illinois in 1930. But you need something more to go on. Do you know anything else about the two of them--maybe where they died and where Leah died? I don't have access to 1930. Joan
Yes, I looked at the Instructions to Enumerators as well. It doesn't appear that she was blind or crippled from what my mother remembered so it is a big mystery as to what was just slightly off. Joan

I'm looking for connections to the James Humphries family of Knox Co., Ill in 1850. The 1850 census has it spelled UMPHREYUS. The first record found for James and Lucinda (McDaniel) Humphries is in Ohio 1830. By 1840 the family had moved to Knox Co., lLL. That census states that they had 2 sons born between 1830 and 1835 that I cannot account for. They also had 2 daughters, Mary E. and Sally for which I have no information. James moved his family to Decatur Co., Iowa by 1856. The 4 children mentioned above are not listed there with them on the 1860 census. I have information for James and Lucindas other 5 children, John G., Elizabeth, Martha A., James, Jr., and Perry S. Humphries. James, Jr., stayed in Iowa while the other 4 children moved to Cass and Jackson Counties, MO. around 1870. If any one has any information on this family I will happily exchange information. I'm also looking for the marriage license of James and Lucinda possibly in Virginia. Thelma (Humphries) of Colorado

Joan, In my 1880 Census : Instructions to Enumerators (which you can see at _http://www.ipums.org/usa/voliii/tEnumInstr.html_ (http://www.ipums.org/usa/voliii/tEnumInstr.html) ) there is no reference to "lives complete". This is a shame because I've seen enumerators continually put in terms that would of course be clear to them - but no one else has a clue what it means. Genealogyangel
I haven't seen the census image, but if "lives complete" is written in the occupation section, it could mean that she lives on her own retirement/income. Just a thought. Donna
Hi - I found the census page with your ggrandmother. Are you talking about the writing that's partially under the tape? It does look like 'lives complete'. I have no idea what that means. That's a new expression to me. Priscilla In a message dated 6/12/05 9:11:43 P.M. Central Daylight Time, shyfyre@MSN.COM writes: But I've never seen the 'lives complete'! Will you tell us where you saw it? It was on the 1880 census for my great grandmother, Mrs. Lars (Anna) Pearson in Thornton, Cook County, Illinois. It doesn't show up on familysearch.com. You'd have to see the actual census. Joan ==== ILROOTS Mailing List ==== Please do not post virus warnings to the list.
