    3. What was your great grandfather's name? It is much easier to help when you know the names of both people in a marriage. Do you know what her maiden name was?

Author: RVcook Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12415.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Kathy, Did Nora ever marry? If so, the marriage license may contain the names of her parents. And...if Nora did marry, what were the names of her children? Sometimes people name their children with the grandparent's names. Did Nora ever work past the 1930's? If so, her SS-5 application will list the names of her parents. Do you have any clues as to where in Illinois Nora may have come from? If so, the Nelson's may have settled there prior to her birth and it may just be a matter of "weeding" out potential candidates. Do you have an obit? Depending on how much of her life was known to the person who wrote it, there may be a clue as to where she was from. Did Nora have any older siblings? Sometimes it is just a matter of finding them with their family of origin. In this case, locating the family in the 1880 census would be the goal. Let me know if you have any more information. Author: clarinetboy Surnames: Siegmann, Siegman, Sigmann, Sigman Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12414/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for marrage records of Karl and Christine Siegmann. Christine's last name is unknown at this time. Census records of 1900 and 1910 put the marrage date at 1882 which is a year after Karl's immigration. The 1900 Oklahoma census list's Christine's father and brother as living with the family but their last name is unreadable. The father also immigrated in 1881, but Christine has no immigration date. According to the census information Karl and Christine had their first child in 1882 in Illinois so I'm assuming that they were married somewhere in the state, but I do not know where. If anyone has any information about their marrage, I'd appricate it. Matthew Siegmann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
