Are you still working on the Welter family history? I think we have ancestors in common - Michael and Susanna (DeVille)Welter - and would love to share info if we indeed have the same people in our past. Sorry, I don't have a Margaret Smith born in that time frame. My Margaret Smith was born in 1924. I don't recognize the surname of Moomey either. As far as I know none of my Smith's were from Canada. I have tons of Smith's in my family tree though, so we may end up connecting somewhere someday! My Hall's are on my cousin's husband's side and I don't know a lot about that line. Not that I know of Paul. I haven't been able to trace my Smith line past Fountain county, Indiana. They were there in the 1850 census. I know that the Liggett/Thomas/Hayes line that my Smith's married into were supposedly from Brown county, Ohio and the surrounding areas. Sure wish I COULD connect my Smith's to yours. The Papers of Abraham Lincoln has made available online a free, second edition of its award-winning publication, "The Law Practice of Abraham Lincoln." The latest publication includes additional information based on the research conducted for the project's four-volume print edition published in 2008. "Now, scholars, students, genealogists, and the general public worldwide have access to the record of Abraham Lincoln's legal career, with all of the issues and people involved in that important part of his life," said director Daniel Stowell. The second edition is available at http://www.lawpracticeofabrahamlincoln.org/Search.aspx Included are 45 new cases from Lincoln's law practice, 12 new activities that did not result in litigation, and nearly 1,300 new documents. In addition, the editors have replaced more than 1,500 black-and-white images of documents with more legible color images based on the continuing work of the Papers of Abraham Lincoln. Combined with "The Papers of Abraham Lincoln: Legal Documents and Cases," published in 2008 by the University of Virginia Press, "The Law Practice of Abraham Lincoln, Second Edition" completes Series I of the Papers of Abraham Lincoln. Researchers and editors are currently at work on Series II: Illinois Papers and Series III: Presidential Papers. The Papers of Abraham Lincoln is a project of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. The Center for State Policy and Leadership at the University of Illinois at Springfield, and the Abraham Lincoln Association serve as the project's cosponsors. THE STATE JOURNAL-REGISTER Jan 12, 2009
