Author: Kroe532 Surnames: Stainbrook, Leyson, Robinson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12488/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have just acquired the death certificate of Lillie L. Stainbrook, dau. of Alfred & Mary (Robinson) Stainbrook of Paw Paw, Lee County, IL. At the time of Lillie's death on 21 Jan 1953, she resided in an apartment building on Drexel Blvd. in Chicago and was a bookkeeper for a meat packing company. She was born c1874-1879 in Paw Paw, and was unmarried. She is buried in Ellsworth Cemetery in Paw Paw, IL. Apparently no obituary was published for her in the Lee County newspapers or in the Chicago Tribune. Since a firned, Helen E. Mackay, was the informant on death certificate, I am assuming that Lillie's sister, Cora B. LEYSON, had died prior to 1953. Cora lived in Boston, Mass. up until 1941 (Waltham), but I cannot locate her death record. I would be very appreciative of any suggestions on this brick wall. Thank you. We ran across a small unmarked/unnamed Cemetery @ 3400-3500 E. 1500 North Rd. McLean County, Illinois (one mile north of Rt. 9.) This would be between Colfax and Anchor, about 5 miles south. Found one large monument: Children of M. S. & E. Morris infant son: B&D 11-25-1872 John M. 3-19-1882 - 3-24-1891 smaller stones: Georgie: s/o C.G. & Margaret Ritchie 4-4-1874 - 8-10-1877 Milton S. 6-1-1842 - 10-29-1880 Gillam (broken stone) John Wesley Ritter 1-8-1821 - 10-30-1892 w/o W. F. Winger 12-28-1858 - 10-16-1916 Then, we found an obit for a William Gillan, lived south of Colfax, d. Feb 1909 with siblings names including Gillan, Huffman, Morris, Ritchie, Baker and others. I have it. And, then we found in 12-24-1923 "Reminiscence of My Life - up to my 85'th b irthday", by Jacob H. Ritchie. It is very lengthy - we also printed it out. Can anyone name this cemetery? or add any input? Gail Hutchcraft [email protected] Ford County, Illinois volunteer (next to McLean County)

With regard to your comment about not seeing a border crossing for either Elizabeth or John Freeman - do you see one for Elizabeth Inglis, which is her first married name or for Elizabeth Spence, her maiden name. I wonder if my g grandmother ever went to visit - her married name was Jane Russell Johnston/Mrs. W.R. Johnston/Jennie Johnston and she lived in Manitoba. On the 1881 census, John Freeman's son was listed as William Austin Freeman but I have found a William John Wellington Freeman. I wonder if the one and the same. I have never found a marriage for Hannah Spence, another sister from Ontario. I looked into John Coleman at one time, but it was not him. If you are in the mood to look into these items, it would be much appreciated. Thanks Peggy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
