They'll be wed on such a date at such a place and time. It wasn't really until you get back into the depression and pre-depression era that info gets sketchy at best depending on social standing. During and before the depression only the wealthy could afford engagment and marraige announcments. The poor just went to the local church and got married without fan fair. However that changed after the depression and the war many had more money to spend and it became common place for the beacon to run engagment and wedding announcments just like birth announcments and obituaries. I lived in Batavia, Il my entire childhood and remeber reading them in the beacon all the time. The Kane County Chronicle didn't do t! hem because they didn't become county wide until the 90's. Prior to that each town here had it's own chronicle and that would be something to check also though I don't recall seeing wedding announcments in it. Author: kristygravlin Surnames: --- Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.unknown/12324.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The public library in Aurora has ALL of the Beacon News on microfilm. As the "big" paper in the area you may find things in there that refer to other "collar" counties to Kane also. I suspect that marriage news is similar to obituaries in this way: Today obituaries are on a certain page, and weddings are in a certain portion of the paper. The farther back you go the less likely this is to be true. For example a wedding announcement may be on any page...but would be headlined in some way to attract attention. The social standing of the couple will probably affect where in the paper the article would be placed. Someone really important might even be found on Page 1. But go back a little farther and you may find something that looks like this: "Buy your shoes at Hermanek's. Mrs. Jones went to Geneva last Sunday to have dinner with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Sam Brown married Miss Mabel White on Saturday. The weather has been unusually warm this past week. The crops are hurting for rain." In other words, lots of one liners and your eyes will have to be sharp when you are watching for information about your Aunt Mabel. I think that this is probably a common sequence of how any kind of news might be found in papers...with less and less "organization" as the paper is farther back in time. If I were going to ask a volunteer for help "way back" I would give them as many likely family names as possible to help them recognize when they are seeing the -right- tidbit. Wedding anouncments often listed the parents, some wedding certificates do, any census 1880 or after lists the entire household by name age, sex, berthplace all that, 1870 didn't but I think some of the earlier ones did also. Death certificates are hit and miss depending on if a birth certificate was available at the time the certificate was filed. The only time parents names are put on is if the birth certificate is available or someone is able to give the coroner / local church before that the names. Hello all I am researching Ann (or Annie) Fraser MACLEAN who apparently died in Illinois in 1888 (aged about 36) and I'm hoping that someone on this list might have access to death notices or death registration info or burial records which provide further information. I am sorry but I do not know the place or exact date of death. I am also interested to know if she was buried in Illinois. Ann (or Annie) Fraser MACLEAN was the daughter of Weir ANDERSON (of Liverpool ENG and later Toronto CAN). She was born abt 1852 in England and immigrated to Canada in 1870, marrying the same year to Dr. Donald MACLEAN who later became Professor of Surgery at the University of Michigan. They lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for many years and had at least three children: Donald, a stillborn son, and Annie. Any information very much appreciated. Anne (in Australia)

I WAS SKEPTICAL AT FIRST, but over a few days hundreds starting appearing in my PayPal account! It was like Christmas morning!!!! INSTRUCTIONS: STEP 1: The first thing to do is highlight and SAVE this entire post in Word or notepad on your computer so you can come back to it later. After that, if you are not already a PayPal user you need to go to the PayPal website which is http://www.paypal.com . If you want to be able to receive credit card payments from other people then you will need to sign up for a PREMIER or BUSINESS account (not just a PERSONAL account). This is highly recommended to allow others easy payment options. In order to place the initial $6 into your account, you will have to verify your bank account with PAYPAL (which may take a few days). PAYPAL is 100% secure and is used by millions of people worldwide. STEP 2: Here is where the action occurs. The first thing to do is to send a $1.00 payment to each of the 6 email addresses on the current list from your PayPal account. To do this quickly and successfully, follow these simple steps: 1. Login to PayPal and click on the "Send Money" tab near the top of the screen. 2. In the "Recipient's Email" field enter the email address. 3. In the "Amount" field enter "1" (This is your $1.00 payment). 4. In the "Category" field select "Service" (Keeping it legal). 5. In the "Subject" field type "EMAIL LIST", and in the "NOTE" field. Enter "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR EMAIL LIST". By doing this, you are creating a service and maintaining the legality of the system by "paying" for the service. 6. Finally, click on the "Continue" button to complete the payment. Repeat these steps for each of the 6 email addresses. That's it! By sending the $1.00 payment to each address, you are implementing the compounding POWER of the system. You will reap what you sow! Here is the current e-mail list: 1) [email protected] 2) [email protected] 3) [email protected] 4) [email protected] 5) [email protected] 6) [email protected] STEP 3: Now take the #1 email off of the list that you see above (from your saved file), move the other addresses up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc.) and add YOUR email address (the one used for your PayPal account) as number 6 on the list. This is the only part of the document that should be changed. ** Make sure your email address is the one you have registered with PayPal ** STEP 4: Post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups or message boards. Keep in mind that there are tens of thousands of groups online! All you need is 200, but remember the more you post the more money you make - as well as everyone else on the list! I've began to see money roll in before I even hit 100 posts, but try to hit around 200 to allow maximum exposure. Use Netscape, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or whatever your internet browser is to search for various news groups, log on to any search engine like yahoo.com or google.com and type in a subject like 'MILLIONAIRE MESSAGE BOARD', 'MONEY MAKING DISCUSSIONS', 'MONEY MAKING FORUMS', or 'BUSINESS MESSAGE BOARD', PAYPAL 6 DOLLAR, OPRAH 6 DOLLAR PAYPAL METHOD. You will find thousands and thousands of message boards. Click them one by one and you will find the option to post a new message. Fill in the subject which will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, and post the article with the NEW list of email addresses included. THAT'S IT!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
