Msg below from Brian Leverich of RootsWeb received this morn..... gf ----- <MODE EMBARRASSED> Besides brief downs during the day while we recabled, we also had about a 1.5 hour down this evening. The cause of the down was that a friend of RootsWeb (not a staff member) who was in the NOC tripped over a power cable and disconnected it at both ends. We immediately plugged the cable back into the wall, but failed to notice it was also unplugged at the UPS. When the UPS ran out of battery power about 7 hours later, the microwave transceiver that connects us to the Internet failed. We tracked the problem down and fixed it as soon as we could. Sorry about the down time. ### Bad news and good news. The bad news is that we're moving the last of our servers from Anaheim to our new NOC in Bakersfield tomorrow. That means that several of our servers (GenConnect and Searches, among them) will be down for four or five hours. The good news is that this will complete our move out of Anaheim, and should basically fix this rocky period. After the move is complete, we'll be enjoying significantly more bandwidth and better facilities than we had in Anaheim.
