I didn't see the whole post on this question...but...there was a Ransom Dayton in 1850, Scott Co, Davenport, Iowa ...just across the river from Rock Island. We have family who lived on one side of the river and married on the other,,,,,so it would be good to check out this family for Oscar living with Ransom. Julie
