Port Byron Library (in new building since I went researching) has microfilm of Port Byron Globe and neat historical things Rock Island County Historical Society library is GREAT! They have the microfilm of the Globe, plus other newspapers and card files on almost everybody. Cemetery lists. Easy to use. I was VERY impressed and we spent a whole day. Beautiful building too. Rock Island Public Library has a marvelous set of books that is an Index to extractions from all the RI County papers, plus many good maps. Plat maps showing ownership are helpful. Perhaps the BlackhawkGS collection is there. Rock Island County Courthouse (don't tell, but death certificates are a lot cheaper there than anywhere else I have had to get them). Land records, birth/marriage/death certs. Indexes to marriages are helpful. I found PB family quite easy to research. I never got in touh with Blackhawk GS either, but historical society is the cat's pyjamas. Anne Lamb Duvall, WA
