One thing I noticed, and just remembered, was that a lot of the very stauch Germans who lives at the north end of the county actually went all the way to Lyons, (north end of Clinton) to atend church because it was the nearest Lutheran church. My own great-grandmother (Mette Cathrina Carstensen, married to Hans Iver Hansen) did so every Sunday, while her husband (who wasn't much of a church goer) stayed at home and played horseshoes with his sons-in-laws! :-) Although she attended the Lyons Lutheran Church all her married life, she is buried in Cordova, along with 99% of her descendants and of course the Claus Heinrich Moeller (Miller) clan of 11 kids, assorted in-laws and grand-children! By the way, for anyone who is related and didn't know, Claus Heinrich Moeller is from Schoenberg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Yes, he had a brother (signed up for naturalization the same day he did in Davenport) and two sisters, one who married a Koepke and is buried in the Old German Cemetery in Davenport, down by the river. Another place to search for German burials!!!! Anyone who wants the Moeller (Miller) genealogy, please write. I also have all the Carstensen/Hansen too. Iver Carstensen was the 6th of that name, and the original was th King's royal forest ranger! Such fun!
