Hi Cous! Yes Claus Heinrich Moeller (Miller) was born in Schoenberg, Schleswig Holstein. Years ago I accidently found the reading of his will in the Davenport paper. There was no probate filed, for some strange reason but the reading gave names of relatives still in Germany! It was fantastic! Ragoula Rachel Simon is the daughter of Jacob Simon and Magdelina Lucksinger, who lived and died in Belleville, Illinois, where Claus' and Rachel's oldest daughter was born. I also have all that information. You might be interested to know that Jacob had an ailment called paralysis agitus, a parkinsonian syndrome where his legs and arms hurt terribly and eventually became unusable. He entered the Civil War and was discharged as unfit for service. Yet he was a watchmaker and a jeweler! Hard to explain! But anyway the disease is hereditary and has come down through the ages, even to myself. Feels like arthritis but isn't fatal. Just annoying! As for Claus and Rachel's marriage certificate, it was never filed. Our 2nd cousin Jessie Rassmussen has the ORIGINAL in Albany. Found it about 10 years ago! Lucky us! I also have all of Claus' Civil War records. Did you know Claus had a brother named George? That's who your g-grandfather is named after. I don't know what happened to him. He never came home from the War, either that or he moved away somewhere. Their two sisters married and died in Davenport. I'd love to trade information on the Simons and Millers for the Rathbuns! My grandparents were Homer and Molly Miller, from Cordova. I'm their youngest daughter, Joanne's, 2nd daughter. My Aunt Margie still lives in DeWitt and you have another Miller cousin, Sally Schroeder, right there in Rock Island, who is a member of the Black Hawk Genealogical Society.
