    1. [ILROCKIS-L] Edwards Cemetery and VT/MASS connections
    2. Can anyone tell me where to get hold of the listings of the Edwards Cemetery? I am interested in looking at ANY of the names there in general as well as hoping to possibly see a burial for my gg grandfather, Pierce B. BISSELL. So, I would like to actually see a listing of ALL burials, not just querry for a name or two, though I would like to know if Pierce B. Bissell, or any Bissell was possibly buried there. Luther EDWARDS, part of the original clan who came from Halifax, VT, was a next door neighbor to a Jonathan Marsh Bissell in 1820 Halifax. Luther's family and extended family were supposedly buried in Edwards cemetery in Rock Island Co, Illinois. We are currently suspecting that Pierce B. Bissell, born about 1816-20, may have been related in some way to Jonathan Marsh Bissell through one of the men in the family who haven't been traced...making Pierce a nephew or great nephew perhaps. Interestingly, next door on the other side to Jonathan Marsh Bissell in Halifax was a Jared Pierce. There is a William PIERCE/PEARCE who appears in early 'Rock Island records, buying land the same day as our Pierce Bissell...in the same close area in Rock Island Co. If he is the same one who appears in the 1850 census, he was born in Mass about the same time Pierce Bissell was born, location unknown. It's possible that William Pearce was related to Jared Pierce. Jonathan Marsh Bissell and the Edwards all came to VT from Mass and moved on west...many of them or subsequent generations going first to Jefferson Co, NY and on to Illinois , probably with stopovers in Michigan or Ohio. I am also interested in ANY Rock Island early settlers who had roots in VT or MASS. connections to try to see if any lived nearby any Bissell families who might be candidates for Pierce B. Bissell's parentage. Thanks for reading this....Julie Bissell Tupker
