Hi Listers, I found out only 2 days ago that my great grandfather Gustavus Bernard MOOSE is buried in the National Cemetery at Rock Island. I'm going to write the National Archives in D.C. for his military record, but I was wondering how I would go about asking for someone to do a lookup for me in the local obits? He died Jan. 9, 1948, also a brand new piece of information for my family. We are all extremely curious about this man, because he disappeared around 1917 and was never heard from again. Unfortunately, I don't know if he was from around the area. The only clue I have is from his brother's obit in 1917, where it listed the survivors, one of whom was "Gustavus of Chicago, Illinois". The rest of the family was from Valparaiso, Indiana. Your help and suggestions are most welcome! Johanna Moose in Holland
