DO NOT OPEN ZIPPED FILE ATTACHMENTS. YOU MAY KNOW THE SENDER. THE SENDER MAY NOT KNOW THEY ARE SENDING YOU THE WORM. IF A SENDER HAS OPENED THE ZIPPED FILES WITH THE WORM, THEN THE WORM IS IN THEIR COMPUTER AND THE WORM WILL AUTOMATICALLY SEND EMAIL FROM THAT MACHINE TO ALL LISTED IN THE VICTIM'S EMAIL INBOX. (I don't know about a fix. I just received these msgs.) The email msg which is being sent from infected computers looks something like this: Hi <Recipient Name>! I received your email and I shall send you a reply ASAP. Till then, take a look at the attached zipped docs. Bye (This salutation messages changes and may be "Bye", Sincerely" and "All") ******** Technical stuff for the worm below: TROJ_EXPLOREZIP Is Back with a Twist A variant of the autospam TROJ_EXPLOREZIP worm, TROJ_EXPZIPWMPAK, is spreading quickly and damaging files There is a newly discovered variant of the Trojan ExploreZip worm that was originally discovered in June, 1999. This variant, TROJ_EXPZIPWMPAK, is identical to the original ExploreZip worm in that it is auto-spamming malicious code that destroys data on the infected system. The only significant difference between this variant of the worm and the original is that TROJ_EXPZIPWMPAK is compressed with a different type of compression format, thereby evading protection for the previous worm. TROJ_EXPZIPWMPAK attacks Windows 95, 98, and NT systems and has been detected at several Fortune 500 customer sites in the United States. TROJ_EXPZIPWMPAK emails itself out as an attachment under the filename "zipped_files.exe". The subject line of the email varies. The body of the email message may also contain the following text: Hi <Recipient Name>! I received your email and I shall send you a reply ASAP. Till then, take a look at the attached zipped docs. Bye (This salutation messages changes and may be "Bye", Sincerely" and "All") After a user clicks on the attachment, this destructive trojan searches hard drives C: through Z:, selecting the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files as well as source code files used by programmers including C++, C, and Assembler source files and reduces their file size to zero, making the data unrecoverable. When executed, TROJ_EXPZIPWMPAK utilizes MAPI enabled email systems, to automatically reply to any subsequently received email messages. The email reply will include the infected attachment with the message shown above. It will use the subject line of the received email when it replies. "TROJ_EXPLOREZIP caused millions of dollars of damage worldwide the first time since it overwrites files, instead of just deleting them, it's particularly damaging.

Henri D'Hooghe of Belgium signed a Letter of Intent to become a citizen in Rock Island County Court on 1 Nov 1883. I am trying to find the ship passenger list for his arrival by viewing LDS film starting with Nov 1883 and working backwards. So far I have viewed 4 films for New York City arrivals back to 9 July 1883. I have observed that there are not very many ships arriving from Antwerp, and even on those ships there are not many Belgians. I have seen occasional Belgians on ships from several other European ports. It is said that he arrived at age 18. I have his birth record showing birth on 25 Jan 1864 in Hansbeke, so if he came sometime in 1882, I have an excruciating film search ahead. It just seemed more likely to me that he arrived closer to the date that he filed the Letter of Intent. I am interested in the arrival date to determine paramters for his movements. He homesteaded in western Kansas in 1886 and then at time of proof in 1891 he went to Nebraska. I'm looking for where he was prior to 1 Nov 1883, as well as where he was between that date and the Homestead filing. I am wondering if there was a U.S. port other than New York that was more popular for Belgians, and particularly those coming to the Moline area. Any suggestions? Thanks for comments. John Fiala
After hitting the wall at the State of Iowa, I lucked out once by trying the funeral home, where I got a copy of the paperwork when the arrangements were made; it showed the spouses' name, address, children if any, other surving family members, etc. Maybe it would work for you in E. Moline. What about a church, other orgs. where there might have been membership. Delia, once from R. I.

Who is the William FRENCH, died 21 Feb 1867, buried in the Illinois City Cemetery next to George E. FRENCH and Margaret Elizabeth ELLSWORTH FRENCH? Are there newspapers for this area on film for the 1867 era? If so, what and where? Thank you. Audrey Cox Vogelpohl Seattle, Washington
Thanks to one of our researchers who lead me to freefind.com, we have a search engine back on the Macoupin site and now have one on the Rock Island site. Think they are both picking up most on each of the two county pages. Let me know if you notice something the search engine isn't picking up or something needs changed on them. FYI gf ****** My interest in researching the 1851 Oregon Trail migration began several years ago when I attempted to see if my wife's 1851 O.T. ancestors, JOSHUA PETTINGILL BLANCHARD and his bride REBECCA JANE [RACE], had kept a journal or maybe were mentioned in a fellow traveler's account of the crossing. This led to the thought of sharing the wealth of documents and information I have accumulated with others who might be looking for similar documents . It seemed logical to my purpose to create a list of 1851 O.T. names, with documentation, and some sort of index of the journals and recollections I was able to find. These I obtained from published sources as well as from private family papers via email contacts. I started researching just the Oregon Trail pioneers to Oregon, but expanded my "Master List of 1851 O.T. Pioneers" to those who turned off to CA (and are so identified) and to those who went to Salt Lake City for the winter and then returned to the Trail to Oregon (and are so identified). I decided to include those Mormons whose journals I happened upon (as these Mormons often interacted with the Oregon bound folks part of the way along the Oregon Trail). But I did not exhaust the Mormon documents, as that is a major project unto itself. I am not including any of the Santa Fe Trail folks, however....again, another project for others to pursue. My "Index of 1851 O.T. Journals/Recollections" project involves gathering all of the known 1851 journals/recollections and listing 1.) the dates landmarks were reached, 2.) unusual incidents recorded along the way, and 3.) the names of other travelers mentioned. Comparing journal entries, one can then partially reconstruct the groups which traveled together at least part of the way along the journey. And sometimes all that remains of an ancestor's O.T. trek is an anecdote of a trail incident or the name of a fellow traveler which passed down through the generations. Hopefully, people searching for some tidbits about an ancestor's journey(barring the discovery of an actual document composed by that ancestor) will be able to find , through this Index (which also cites the repository) an account kept by a pioneer who made the trek across the continent with that pioneer ancestor. I am anxious to add as many names and journal/recollections as I can find. I am documenting the source and/or citing the names of the contributor of each name I include. Some are from published works, but many have been sent via email from descendants of those 1851 pioneers. I have already identified over 2,000 names & have gathered 65 journals and recollections related to the O.T. 1851 migration west. If you know of the whereabouts of 1851 Oregon Trail Pioneer names and/ or any journals they kept or recollections they wrote later, I will be happy to add them to my project. But time is running out. Since I have been working on this for several years, I have decided to end the "hunting gathering" phase of this project in December. Then comes the monumental task of preparing the results so as to be presented in a simple form for other searchers and researchers to find useful to access. That's the story. Now, I will attach a list of the 1851 O.T. journals/recollections which I have not copies of yet, hoping that some may be in a repository close to you . I do know that one is in your state (see below); there may be other there, as well. *********************** KEY: RRN= "Platte River Road Narratives" by Merrill J.Mattes,U of IL Press,1988 CWW= Covered Wagon Women,vol.3,ed.
