    3. Cyndi ... this is not what you asked for, BUT adds a little color to the basic data you might already have ... "The Past and Present of Rock Island County, Illinois 1877". page 311 lists a Christ Trefz as living at 1924 3rd Ave of Rock Island City. In the same book, page 168, is listed the Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Church being organized in 1856; and was located on the corner of Fifth avenue and Twentieth street in Rock Island. The Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church is listed on page 170, and was organized in 1870 and the church built on the corner of Tenth street and Eighth avenue (at a cost of $2,500). On page 172 of the same book: "Chippiannock Cemetery, which means "City of the Dead," was organized in 1855, .... one mile south of the city limits." Audrey Cox Vogelpohl Seattle, Washington RyanBuild@aol.com wrote: > Christoph H b dec 1822 - d 29 Nov 1875 > My next question what was the first Lutheran Church in Rock Island, and was there a Church that directly relates to this cemetery. 1. [ILROCKIS-L] Cemetery
    2. I had a very kind person that did a look up for me and found at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery the following: Trefz Katherine E. b 22 mar 1821 - d 27 apr 1892 Christoph H b dec 1822 - d 29 Nov 1875 which very clearly matches my family. Then the rest is very unclear and I need the address to write to the cemetery or ask for someone to do a look for me. William 1858 - 1904 Ottilda 1858 - 1904 Sophia 1861-1928 My next question what was the first Lutheran Church in Rock Island, and was there a Church that directly relates to this cemetery. It also appears that the son of Christoph was buried in the Chippiannock Cemetery with other family members. Everyone has been a great help to me on this mail list and I just want to say a big THANK YOU - in the past weeks I have found out a lot about my family. I can't wait to get back their but with 3 young children it will probably be awhile. Especially since I was in that area the year before I knew my family was from there. Thanks to All Cyndi I am in Aurora, CO just outside of Denver and if anyone needs anyhelp in this area please contact me and I will see what I can do for you.

    2. ldever
    3. Looking for any information on a Martha A. Nelson, born about 1831 in Huron County, Ohio and married a man named LANGDON, first name unknown. They had at least two children, William LANGDON (aka LITTLER) born about 1852 in Michigan and Cassius or Cussius LANGDON (aka LITTLER), born about 1855 in Iowa. Also, there was a Ralph W. LANGDON who died at the age of four years in Rock Island, Rock Island County, Illinois on March 1, 1881. I believe this may have been a son of either William or Cassius. Any help on a LANGDON family living in Rock Island County would be most helpful. Thank you. Lynn Dever Researching LITTLER in VA, OH, IA, IL-MURPHY in IL ldever@ksni.net

    3. I am looking for relatives of John F. SCHWENNEKER. My great grandmother Catherina nee Eck SACHAU married him in 1867 in Rock Island, Ill. I haven't been able to find any of his decendents and would like to find if there was an obituary of John's. I don't have the date of his death. Because of the age of Catherina there wouldn't have been any children of this marriage. However, Catherina had a young son, age 9 or 10, named Christop Heinrich. We cannot find any existance of Heinrich after they arrived. Joyce Street __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! 3. Please understand I'm not trying to criticize, but am asking because my own Rock Island relatives came from Greene County, Tennesee as well. What does the Jonathan Lee and White family query have to do with Rock Island County, Illinois? I'm thinking that perhaps a group of people traveled up together? My own family is the Hobert/Thompson/Thomas/Thornton/Reynolds and Drury combination. The Thompson and Thomas family came from Greene County, TN, and settled in Rock Island first, then in Muscatine across the river. -- Diana J. 1. [ILROCKIS-L] Trefz
    2. Looking for Help on Family name Trefz - Lived in Rock Island From about 1860 on. The first two were Christopher Trefz and Amelia Herter from Germany and I have been told they were buried in Rock Island - Where I don't know. They Had Five Children the twins were Sophie and Carl which moved away and Mitilda (Tillie) and Kathernie (Katie) who lived and were probably also buried in Rock Island since neither one married and then there was Erlinda (Linda) Who Married Al Christensen and their son was VP of the Rock Island Bank - The twins were born in 1884 and Katie in 1881 - I know that Katie passed away in December of 1973 according to SSD Index, which does match. Maybe if I could find some dates of death I could trace from their - especially Katherine (Katie) or her parents Christopher or Amelia Trefz. I have found Christoph Wilhelm Trefz on the Wuerttemberg emigration index and his birthyear matches close to birthyear of person in our family, who is Christopher William Trefz according to Sophie's Birthcertificate (his Daughter). I have also found names of the other family members which appear on the same list. Has anyone ever looked up the copies on the Wuerttember index / and/ or do you know what information I will find by requesting the index. How eles can I confirm this is the person I am looking for. - I have no death information on him - except that he died in Rock Ilsand, IL and this was per my Grandmother - that's where they lived. His possible brother is Jacob Trefz - born 20, dec. 1853. Has anyone ever looked up the copies on the Wuerttember index / and/ or do you know what information I will find by requesting the index. Has anyone ever request a Birth Certificate from Germany, Kirchheim ??? how would you do this or find information. Any help would be appreciated., I am really stuck on this. Thanks, Cyndi Ryan ryanbuild@aol.com
