Hi Listers, Seems to me I remember seeing this hospital referenced before but at time had no need to write down the info. I now find info that a great-aunt died at Watertown State Hosp in May of 1922. Can anyone give me any info available on this hosp? Thanks Pat
Hi Audrey - I am new to this list and have noticed that you have responded to a lookup for another person on the surnames WELLS in Rock Island County, IL. While doing a search, I came across an item under Rock Island Co. Probate Case Files 1834-99 showing the names Charles W. WELLS and along side that name was Henry O. WELLS. My gr grandfather's name was Charles W. WELLS, b. abt 1832, OH. He settled in western IL, and I'm wondering if the above entry is him, and if Henry O. WELLS may be his father. If you come across these WELLS names, or have any suggestions as to how I might proceed to find him, I would deeply appreciate your letting me know. I'm having so much difficulty finding my gr grandfather. Peggy Riggs Kopp

Gary: There is lots of information on people with the last name of COOK and COOKE in "The Past and Present of Rock Island, Illinois, 1877", you should really try to get a copy of the book through inter-library loan. Page 218: History of Rural Township "Rural was set off from Coal Valley Township and organized in 1871.... The first religious organization in the township was in the year 1852 ... this organization was called Homestead United Presbyterian; full membership was fifteen at organization, May 6th. ..... In the year 1858, the Associate and Associate Reformed Churches having united, Homestead Church came within the bounds of the United Presbytery of Monmoouth. In this year Rev. A.A. Hi All, I am sorry I have not emailed before now and introduced myself but I just got back from Hawaii and have had a million things to catch up on. Anyway I am your new County Coordinator and I hope we can work together. I have some big things planned for our site and I need your help. Remember without you we would not be here. Just to let you know a little about me I am a 50 year old (will be 51 next month) wife, mother of 4, 3 boys and 1 girl, grandmother of 3 girls and 1 boy. My little angels. To see pictures of me and my family if yopu want to see them go to this site http://www.jps.net/shawnnee/familyalbum.html I was raised in Hamilton, Hancock Co, Illinois and Quincy, Adams Co, Illinois. I left there in 1964 and moved to Utah. My home will always be Illinois. I still miss it and always will. Right down to the muddy Mississippi. I have been doing genealogy for 28 years and have a database of my own of 120,000 names. I have got some of my family back to the year 134. Not quite back to Adam. I love genealogy but I do have another job. I am a Paralegal and run my business from my home. I have another sideline business that I run from home too. I became handicapped in 1987 and have devoted most of my spare time to genealogy since then. I have written 1 book and have another one started. I try to be here for each and every one of you. If you need anything or have any suggestions I will listen and take it all into concideration. Email me anytime shawnnee@jps.net Thank you for being there so I can be here. Shawnnee

Hi Cous! Yes Claus Heinrich Moeller (Miller) was born in Schoenberg, Schleswig Holstein. Years ago I accidently found the reading of his will in the Davenport paper. There was no probate filed, for some strange reason but the reading gave names of relatives still in Germany! It was fantastic! Ragoula Rachel Simon is the daughter of Jacob Simon and Magdelina Lucksinger, who lived and died in Belleville, Illinois, where Claus' and Rachel's oldest daughter was born. I also have all that information. You might be interested to know that Jacob had an ailment called paralysis agitus, a parkinsonian syndrome where his legs and arms hurt terribly and eventually became unusable. He entered the Civil War and was discharged as unfit for service. Yet he was a watchmaker and a jeweler! Hard to explain! But anyway the disease is hereditary and has come down through the ages, even to myself. Feels like arthritis but isn't fatal. Just annoying! As for Claus and Rachel's marriage certificate, it was never filed. Our 2nd cousin Jessie Rassmussen has the ORIGINAL in Albany. Found it about 10 years ago! Lucky us! I also have all of Claus' Civil War records. Did you know Claus had a brother named George? That's who your g-grandfather is named after. I don't know what happened to him. He never came home from the War, either that or he moved away somewhere. Their two sisters married and died in Davenport. I'd love to trade information on the Simons and Millers for the Rathbuns! My grandparents were Homer and Molly Miller, from Cordova. I'm their youngest daughter, Joanne's, 2nd daughter. My Aunt Margie still lives in DeWitt and you have another Miller cousin, Sally Schroeder, right there in Rock Island, who is a member of the Black Hawk Genealogical Society. Do you have Family Tree Maker? I'll send you a GEDCOM on the Miller, Simons and related families. Later! Diana -- Diana J. My great-great grandfather was C.H. Moeller (Miller). I have him listed as being born in Schlesvig-Holstien, Denmark, on April 25, 1840. He married Ragoula Rachel Simon (b. Jan 26, 1845 in Glarus, Switz). They married Aug. 11th 1865 in St. Louis, MO. They both died in Cordova. I do know they had a son, my great grandfather, George Miller,, born in Cordova. I don't have alot of info on the Millers, But I do have quite a bit on Rathbun's/Rathburns, and Bakers from Cordova. (in-laws to the Millers) Let me know if anyone would like some info, or maybe have a line to this family. Thanks, cya Kris Taylor East Moline, IL
Pam, on Page 257 of "The Past and Present of Rock Island, Illinois, 1877": Under War Record of Privates in Company I of the 126th Illinois Volunteer Infantry is listed: Frederickson Hans.
