I found a site with a list of books for sale for Illinois and Illinois Counties. I found some good stuff there. http://www.myfreeoffice.com/hrywlfrd//books.html
My great-grandparents lived in Cordova during that time period and were Lutherans. But instead of going south, they went north, and crossed the river to attend church at the Lyons, Iowa Lutheran Church. Don't forget people may have crossed the river to go to Davenport as well. A big thanks to everyone that answered my query on where to look in Rock Island County while I'm there. Another question I have: Besides Zion Lutheran, what other Lutheran churches were in existance between Pt Byron and Moline in 1870-1878. We know that at least 3 great aunts and uncle were born in that area. One burial info had listed East Moline as birthplace where her church records had Pt Byron. Thanks again for all the help. do you know for sure that he is buried in Moline, Ill? You can go to the local library and look at the old newspapers there for an obituray, or when you in Moline, and the calls won't be long distance, call each funeral home and ask if they have any records with the name you are searching for, and if they took care of the arrangements, they will give you all the information you want. Hi all, I am hoping to make a trip to Rock Island County the end of May. I'll be staying with a "cousin" in Davenport. As some of you may remember we are having a time trying to track down what happened to one of the children of Catherina SACHAU SCHWENNEKER.....Christop Heinrich SACHAU. My question is when I am there where would I look for a possible death record for him since there was no mention of him in any of the older siblings obits. He was 9 1/2 when his mother left with him from Germany in 1866. Also, do the genealogy societies in Moline and Rock Island allow non members to look thru their records? My "cousin" in Davenport is a volunteer at the FHC and she as not found anything in microfilms she has access to there. We have contacted Zion Lutheran Church and they do not have any mention of them. He's not in the Riverside Cemetery where his mother and step father are...nor in Rosehill. So.......QUESTIONS>>>QUESTIONS>>>>>lol Joyce Street Oklahoma __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Messenger. http://im.yahoo.com

Y'all did so good on my last query here's another one. I'm looking for the ancestry of an Elizabeth Wylie who married Benjamin L. Vanatta on 29 Jan 1890 in Illinois City, IL. Her parents I believe were Josiah Wiley/Wylie and Mary McCormack. I have the Vanatta side; my mother was a granddaughter of Benjamin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would be willing to share my information on the Vanatta's if any one needs help with that family line. Lee Sulzberger, Huntsville, AL

Good morning Listers: Does anyone know where I can find a listing of the patients that were buried at Watertown Hospital? I know I saw the information somewhere, but now can't locate it. I found the hospital listed in the Archives - for case files, etc, but nothing on the patients buried there. Thanks for your help. Pat
If someone has the index of this cemetery could you look for SACHAU and MAACK. I agree with Nancy, you all are the greatest and most helpful. thanks Joyce Street __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Messenger. http://im.yahoo.com
