In Illinois, everything is sealed for privacy reasons and you'll be doing good to get the indexes to look at if you appear at the front desk. You may have better luck searching the newspaper clippings and the genealogical index in the Public Library for references to Fink and possibly a divorce announcement. Members of the Black Hawk Genealogical Society do lookups for a small donation. Or possibly the Library will help search the index in the locked room. I forget what it's called. :-( Good luck! 3. (I'm not sure if this was posted previously, so excuse me if this is a second identical message). I'm wondering how to search for a divorce that likely occured in Rock Island County. Jacob FINK, his wife Genevieve and children were in Rock Island in 1870. In 1880, Genevieve and family were living in Davenport, Iowa and she was listed as "divorced" on the census. I haven't been able to find Jacob in the 1880 census. (Scott or Rock Island Counties) The divorce may have been in Scott County, but I have to check Rock Island as being a good possibility. Any advice on how to find divorce records 1870-1880 in Rock Island County will be appreciated. --John McDonald Grass Valley, California jmcd@oro.net

The airport is being expanded and they are going to move the CEMETERY. Is there a way to get this message to as many listers as possible in a short amount of time? Can you help! We have Pat Jones Smith, of St Louis, to thank for both posts. (See end.) Alexandra BRIDGETON MEMORIAL PARK, Bridgeton, Missouri This burying ground at 4616 Long Road was made into a memorial park in 1962. In 1959 several lawsuits were filed against the City for allowing the cemetery to deteriorate. Individual stones had already been removed "through error and misunderstanding" but members of the Bridgeton Historical Commission were able to learn the names of some who were buried there and a large monument was erected in 1963 which bears this inscription, "We honor the people buried here. They were part of this nation's adventure and their vision lighted the path we follow today." At the dedication ceremonies, Mrs. Anna Wilson gave a talk about African-American veterans who are buried here. Records indicate that the cemetery was integrated from its beginning. It was in use as late as 1954 and at least 100 people are buried in the two acres. On the bronze plaque of the monument are the following names: Annie Adams Auston Edwards Enoch Mumps Edward Walker Benjamin Adams Au

I am interested in finding more information about it's establishment, membership in 1850's and early 60's. I am also very interested in searching for names of burials there. I understand it was established by people from the Ard's Peninsula in County Down, Ireland. Thanks for any help! Marty

A good site for Swedish Records in Moline is the Swenson Center at Augustana College, Rock Island, IL. There is a website for it; however, lost that also with my computer problem.
