Hello, I am looking for some ancestors who emigrated to America around 1892. Their surname was Ginneberge. I have several pictures of them which were all taken in Geneseo, Illinois, but I have reasons to believe that they moved to Rock Island County. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me find some more information about them. Thank you very much. Greetings from Belgium, Luc.
John LACAEYSE immigrated about 1891 from Belgium. In 1897 he was living in South Moline. He lived there until around 1910. He married Maria Irma HERBRANDT in 1900. He worked for the U. M. Iron Co. In 1901-1902 he lived on 18th Ave. There were two other LACAEYSE's living there at the same time: 1. Camile who was married to Cordelia. 2. Theophiel married to Mary. I am not sure how these two are related to my line. I know that John had two sisters who stayed in Belgium. Thanks for any help. Dawn

Thanks, Donna
Greetings, I am seeking information on my g-grandmother, Elizabeth Mandler, who was born in Hampton on April 9, 1856. She married a Robert Calvert on April 7, 1873 and moved to Greene County, Iowa. The only clue I have of her parents may come from another Elizabeth Mandler who came to Rock Island County from Prussia (via St. Louis) sometime after 1840. This Elizabeth married a Henry Gode and lived in Clinton, Iowa until her death in 1926. Because her parents died before she made the trip to St. Louis I believe she may have been escorted by her brothers ( possible father of my Elizabeth) or already had relatives living in Rock Island County. I also believe, but am not certain, that her body was returned to Hampton for burial after her death in Iowa on November 5, 1932. I am anxious to solve this mystery. Thanks. Jake in Ames, Iowa
I am looking for any and all information on: THOMAS S. WILLIS he died in Rock Island co, Ill. in 1874 and is most likely buried at the Hampton Township Cemetery, Hampton, Ill. He married Polly_________ thanks in advance. Cindy
Hello Rock Islanders! I am seeking information on the family of my paternal grandmother, Helen Elizabeth "Nellie" BLAIR. She was born in Rock Island on December 4, 1881. I have heard (but cannot substantiate it yet) that her father was named Samuel BlairJr., that he either owned a pharmacy or worked as a pharmacist in Rock Island. Family legend tells that Mr. Blair was 1/2 Cherokee--his mother having come from North Carolina in 1838 over the infamous "Trail of Tears". Grandma Nellie married a German immigrant by the name of Joseph Edward FLEISCHMANN on March 21, 1899 at Davenport, Iowa. From there, the couple moved to St. Louis, Missouri; where they raised 11 children, including my father, Frank Aloys FLEISCHMANN. If anyone out there can give me some help tracing my BLAIR roots, I would really appreciate it! Sincerely, Rev. Daniel Fleischmann Goatrancher43@aol.com
Chippiannock Cemetery 2901 - 12th Street Rock Island, Illinois Telephone (309) -788 - 6622 If you want to know it's history and have a nice record about it, write for a brochure. It has been in existence since about 1855 and there are current burials being made there. It's large and historically significant as the brochure will tell you.
Thanks to all you people out there in IL who helped me locate my families cemetery, really appreciate it. Sharon in CT

Hello Everyone, This is my first post to the list, and it isnt a very good one. The reason being is that I am looking for my Calvin BLANKENSHIP without much to go on. I am sending this to the Illinois lists because I am thinking that since his wife was born in IL and her parents in TN, that maybe the Blankenship's moved from TN to IL, then to MO. Unfortunately I do not have last names for the women born in IL, but I figure that if I start shooting in the dark long enough, I will hit something. I estimate the Blankenship's migrating to IL after 1825. I found Calvin BLANKENSHIP married to DELIAH on the 1850 Texas County, MO census. Living next door to Calvin is WILLIAM BLANKENSHIP and his wife, PAMELA JANE. Since Calvin was only a couple of years older than William, I have to assume they are related, if not brothers, because they were the only Blankenships in TExas County at this time and they were both born in TN and both of their wives in IL (just thought that was interesting). SInce Calvin Died during the civil war (there is no record on him except a muster roll, since he was a confederate), he wasnt around when the government started asking where their parents were born. I followed Deiliah until 1880. I estimate her time of death between 1881-1883. I followed William, and he lists his parents as also being born in TN ..... although its a shot in the dark, is there anyone out there that has a link to a BLANKENSHIP's that had a son named Calvin, (who was born abt 1820-25) and/or William (b. abt.1823-1826). I do not have Calvin's parents names or their wives maiden names. I am hoping to connect them to someone who might be able to shed some light on this for me .... Thank you in advance!!!!
<< This family moved to Rock Island, Illinois in the summer of 1855. Etienne (Stephen) Loiselle moved from Quebec to Rock Island, IL in 1854. On October 28, 1857, under the rights of the Catholic Church, Etienne (Stephen) Loiselle and Florence Roberts were married. They stayed at Rock Island, IL until 1861. They left for northern Wisconsin on a steamboat named Monitor on June 28, 1861. Does anyone have any information on this Robert/Roberts family. Are they in the 1860 census there in Illinois? >> I checked the Rock Island County 1860 Census Index. There are ROBERTS, but none that match the names you have mentioned. Household #3965 of LUZELLE had Andrew, Frances, and Louis. I also checked the marriage index for that period and saw no marriage for LOISELLE or ROBERTS. I saw a Lucy LASCELLS to marriage, but that was the nearest variation I saw. I check all variants of the names that I could think of, and looked for the name Florence especially. If you're sure they were here, maybe they were missed in the indexing.

If they left in 1850 they might appear. Certainly in 1840. I don't think you're going to find it in Illinois. I'd start in New Jersey. I am looking for the parents of John B. Cain. John was born on April 7, 1804. He was born near Amwell, Hunterdon County, NJ. In 1850 John and his family moved to Hillsdale, Rock Island County, IL. I believe John had a brother named Joseph born around May 20, 1797. On January 8, 1824, John married Anna Myers (daughter of Albertus and Anna (Hann) Myers). They were married by Rev. Israel Poulson of the Dunkard Church. I do not know if John was born into this Church. After John and family moved to Illinois they became Lutherans or Methodists. John, Anna, and Joseph are buried in the Bethesda Cemetery near Hillsdale. John and Anna had six children: Wesley, Ephraim, Sarah, Hiram, John, and Hannah. All were apparently born near West Amwell. Ephraim (my relation) married Jane Elizabeth Hart in Hopewell on October 9, 1850. Shortly afterward John, Anna, and all their children (including their spouses) moved to Hillsdale, IL. Wesley Cain married Mary Catherine Quick in 1847. Here is an excerpt from Rock Island County Biographical History: The family set forth for Illinois in 1850, traveling overland to Pittsburg, where they embarked with their teams on a steamboat, and journeyed the rest of the distance on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, landing at Cordova, in the county of their destination, in the month of November of the same year. The father rented a farm in Canoe Creek Township, on which they lived one year. In 1852 the senior Cain entered 200 acres of land on section 20 Of the same township, and also bought 40 acres on the same. On the latter tract 15 acres had been broken. No other improvements had been made, and the new owner proceeded to build a log house, and to otherwise improve the condition of his estate. His sons, John and Hiram were old enough to aid materially in the work of placing the home farm in profitable condition, and assisted in so doing until 1859, when the latter went to California. The former has since occupied the homestead, in company with his father, who died Aug. 22, 1885. In 1867 he built the present large farm house, and in 1880 he built a barn. The son has bought additional land, and the place now contains 325 acres. The brothers are engaged in raising fine cattle, and show some good specimens of Short-horn breed. I have been trying to identify John's parents for two years now and I am running out of Ideas. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Bruce Hoye (Great-Great-Great-Great-Grandson of John B. Cain) homer.hoye@gte.net <mailto:homer.hoye@gte.net>
