My gggrandmother, Ellen Finney or Feney Wilson came from Ireland, possibly England. Her father died in shipping accident shortly after arriving in NY. Mother died several weeks later. Ellen & possibly her brother Daniel & maybe other siblings were taken in by family named Kirkendall. Don't know if they were legally adopted, may have been taken in as servant help.
