Hi to All, I'm at a brick wall with my 2nd great grandfather Charles P. Brewer who married Elena Dolson in Perry County, Missouri in 1844. I'm including what I've found out so far. I would appreciate any data any of you might run across in your own research that would help to solve this puzzle. The Brewers were originally from Maryland and came through Kentucky to Randolph County Illinois about 1817. Charles Brewer Sr. was thought to be the first in Illinois. His son Charles married Mary Layton in 1831 and they were still having children as late as 1852. My ancestor, Charles P. Brewer married in 1844 and had a son Richard in 1847 so this could NOT have been Charles Jr. Charles Sr. had a brother Pius Brewer who was married to Tabitha Blandford and who also came to Randolph County. I have wondered but cannot find any proof that my Charles' full name might be Charles Pius Brewer and be a s/o Pius Brewer and Tabitha Blandford. He would then have been named for his grandfather (Charles) and his father (Pius) which makes sense given the naming conventions of the time. If anyone has anything to either confirm or disprove my assumption I would be very grateful. If anyone has alternate candidates for Charles' parents I would be very happy to hear from you also. Thanks in advance for anything you can contribute Regards, Don
