The surnames I am researching are ACKER, DEGEN, GOEDELMANN, KRAUS, MEES, MUENCH, REIS, ROSCHE, PFIRRMANN. I am trying to find the death date, place and burial of my great, great grandfather, Herman or Philip Herman Acker who probably died about 1861 according to a newspaper article written at the time of his son's death in 1934. Another article stated that this family from Edenkoben, Landau, Germany came to America in 1854 through the port of New Orleans, went to St. Louis and was greeted there by friends or relatives. They later lived in Red Bud, IL in a small building on the James Crozier addition. There was a fire in the building and the family lost everything. Herman Acker's daughter, Fredericke ACKER b.1 Apr 1860, narrowly escaped from the fire. Herman's other child was Henry P.ACKER, and his wife was Christine ACKER, nee GOEDELMANN. This is the extent of what I know of Herman or Phillip Herman ACKER in the U.S. Any help will be appreciated. Darlene Acker Burzynski
