I always recommend following the path of suggested sources to see if you can find true documentation through government sources, church records, newspapers.etc. Any of the accepted forms of documentations are easily validated by following the path of any researcher. Only then should one accept the information as being accurate and valid to include in your family history. Institutions such as LDS and Ancestry gets alot of their information based on submitters that may or may not have documented proof of their lineage. I use anyone's information as a map to chart my next move for researching rather than willingly accept it as fact and will not include it without validating information myself.
