My great, great grandfather was Henry Hess, born ca 1826 in Germany. He married Elizabeth Kreher, born 1826 in Munster, Germany. They had two sons, Charles Joseph and Henry Maximus. Henry died 1851 in St. Louis, MO. My great grandfather was Henry H. who had a son Henry Adam, my grandfather who lived near Red Bud, IL.in Randolph Co. Is it possible that you are descended from Charles J. son of Henry and brother to Henry M.? The only problem here is that you said Henry married a different lady than Elizabeth.
