    3. >From Towns & Families of Randolph County Illinois: PRAIRIE Post Office established: 7 May 1892; Discontinued 30 April 1903. Prairie or Horse Prairie was built around the Trinity Lutheran Church. It was organized around Horse Prairie Creek in 1838. The village of Prairie is located 3/4 of a mile south of the church property. It is at a crossroads where the 1/2 section line running east & west crosses the north & south boundary, sections 23 & 24 of township 4, range 8. At one time it had a store, blacksmith shop, creamery, wagon shop, Post Office and several houses. It no longer has any businesses. Hope this helps, Terry Gardiner > Hi Steve, > > I would be interested in the town of Horse Prairie, where it is, if it is > still there, or if it changed its name. > I have Hapke relatives that lived there. > > Thanks, Peter > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > ILRANDOL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes > in the subject and the body of the message > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > ILRANDOL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message
