Lafayette was located in the northwest corner of section 8, township 4, and range 7. It was on the left bank of the kaskaskia River, ten miles north of Evansville, Illinois. Grain, lumber and flour milled at Red Bud were shipped from Lafayette. It had a general store, a sawmill and a dry goods store. It is extinct.
