Velda, I don't see anything wrong with the note, but maybe we should add that they need to get their Vet. info. in as so as possible. I don't think anything you said should hurt any ones feelings. See you soon. Oh I just have 131 messages.so you know is going to happen to a lot of them. There is no heat in our research room, therefore we must close for a portion of the year, but we come back renewed in our committment to helping you find your loved ones. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each MONDAY & TUESDAY. Our library has grown considerably. You will be surprised if you have not been there in a while. Please come take a look! PLEASE GET YOUR VETERAN INFORMATION IN FOR THE NEW VETERANS BOOK. Don't leave your relative out! This is Veterans from Randolph County including ALL WARS. The form to fill out is on our website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilrcgs/. Download it and just fill in the blanks. If you have a picture of the Veteran, it will be included. The deadline is near! One of our volunteers drives from Ava, IL and one drives from Rockwood, IL to work every Monday & Tuesday. Their years combined in this work is more than forty. Two of the volunteers are from Chester. This is real dedication especially when the volunteers receive no pay, no gas money, often no thanks, and must use their own money for supplies. They work in the research room when it is hot summertime and when it is so cold, they can see their breath. Much of the work they do is done at home. How did you think all those books got typed? How did all the research get done? The mail must be answered, the bookkeeping done, and the library must be kept in order so that you, our members, can find what you need. One volunteer drives from Perryville, MO to help get the quarterly done. One volunteer works at home in the Walsh area doing scrapbooks for our library. And thanks to the people who pay their $20.00 membership fee, we don't go in the hole! We do have to curtail copying part of the time so that our bill is not too high. There are other volunteers who work at home, too. Their efforts are duly noted, but I was only considering the OFFICE work.
