My ggg grandfather Dr. Robert Eveleigh Taylor arrived in the US from Lancashire, England in October, 1819. He settled in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co., NY. His obituary was carried in the Poughkeepsie Republican Telegraph and Observer newspaper on 24 October 1827. It stated that his death occurred at Pym's Farm, Kaskaskia, Randolph Co., Ill. I have been unable to determine why he would have been in Illinois or what was the nature of Pym's Farm. If anyone can help me to understand anything about Pym's Farm, or if you have any information about Dr. Taylor I would be very appreciative. Since Robert Taylor was a physician, I have speculated that Pym's Farm might have been a treatment center for medical patients, but I do not know how to determine if this was true.
