I don't know what today's township names are, but here is a link to a map of Randolph County for 1875. It shows two townships contain a portion of the area you describe - Union & Evansville. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/maps/illinois/il1875/RANDOLPH.JPG Hope this is helpful. By the way, if you go up a level in the url, you will find maps to many more counties for 1875... http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/maps/illinois/il1875 Bill --- The Poupel/Morddel family <famillepoupel@yahoo.com> wrote: > Hello, list, > I am trying to find the name of the township that > has the coordinates : township 05S, range 08W, but > on the SOS Illinois site, the charming old map has > no township names. April 17, 1780, John Dodge was baptised at 4 mo., son of John Dodge and Ann Quinn at Kaskaskia Immaculate Conception Church. In these church records, it says John Dodge was a witness at two times, but only gives the dates: 1785 and 1786. I wonder if this relates: Michelle (Shelly) Fassel nee Caesar, 49, of Columbia died Nov. 23 at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Charles and June (Feldmeier) Caesar. Besides her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Cara (Wayne) Pulcher and a son Chris (Melinda) Fassel; two sisters, Karen (Norman) Waterman and Nancy (Keith) Connelly; and three grandchildren, Garret, Coby and Lindsi. Her brother, Scott Caesar preceded her in death. She was a nurse's assistant at St. Anthony's Medical Center and a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Mrs. Fassel was born Dec. 30, 1953 in Belleville. Visitation was at the Lawlor Funeral Home with a funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church Nov. 25 the Msgr. Carl Scherer officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Velda, I hadn't even thought about Thomas Leming's will until Madonna mentioned it. I also would like a copy. He was my Great-Great-Grandmother's (Sarah Frances HIGGERSON SOPER) second husband. She outlived him by a year and a half, so hopefully will be listed. Any Soper wills would be great to have as well. Hi to All, I'm at a brick wall with my 2nd great grandfather Charles P. Brewer who married Elena Dolson in Perry County, Missouri in 1844. I'm including what I've found out so far. I would appreciate any data any of you might run across in your own research that would help to solve this puzzle. The Brewers were originally from Maryland and came through Kentucky to Randolph County Illinois about 1817. Charles Brewer Sr. was thought to be the first in Illinois. His son Charles married Mary Layton in 1831 and they were still having children as late as 1852. My ancestor, Charles P. Brewer married in 1844 and had a son Richard in 1847 so this could NOT have been Charles Jr. Charles Sr. had a brother Pius Brewer who was married to Tabitha Blandford and who also came to Randolph County. I have wondered but cannot find any proof that my Charles' full name might be Charles Pius Brewer and be a s/o Pius Brewer and Tabitha Blandford. He would then have been named for his grandfather (Charles) and his father (Pius) which makes sense given the naming conventions of the time. If anyone has anything to either confirm or disprove my assumption I would be very grateful. If anyone has alternate candidates for Charles' parents I would be very happy to hear from you also. Thanks in advance for anything you can contribute Regards, Don
