Violet (Hall) Toler P O Box 318 Goreville IL 62939 violet@shawneelink.net Research needed for Birth/Death/Burial proof on: Donaldson, Martha H born abt. 1835 (possibly in IL, KY or OH), died Oct 12, 1865, or a few days later at Sparta, IL of childbirth. Research needed for divorce proof: Snethen, William H & Donaldson, Martha H, (married 8 Mar 1856 in Sparta, IL). I'm trying to find if there was a divorce in Randolph, Richland, or nearby County in 1865 or prior to 1865. Research needed for Divorce proof: Jobes, William & Hannah J Clappsaddle, (married 10 Oct 1852 in Columbiana, OH). I'm trying to find if there was a divorce in Randolph, Richland, or nearby County in 1865 or prior to 1865. Research needed for Marriage proof: Marriage proof of Snethen, William H & Hannah J Clappsaddle (married Sept 30, 1865 in Olney, IL) Here's the story: Martha Donaldson was married to William H Snethen and died in Sparta, IL within days of her youngest child's birth. Meanwhile, her husband, William H Snethen, married Hannah J Clappsaddle before the birth of his youngest child with Martha. It is quite a mystery - Were there divorces? Did William H marry Hannah illegally? Was the child William's? Thanks, Violet >I have been setting up the e-mail addresses of members of the Randolph >County Genealogical Society. I have just finished setting up the mail program for the new computer at RCGS. The new e-mail address is: rcgs@egyptian.net. PLEASE DON'T TELL LONG STORIES to the person who will do the research. As it says in the newsletter, we will do 3 names for $15.00, which includes birth, death, marriage, place of burial, census and articles from early history publications. Be kind. Not everyone is computer literate. The research will be answered in the order that it is received. Normally there have only been two persons doing the volunteer work at RCGS on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We have been unable to get more help. We would love to hear from you. WE DO NOT HAVE E-MAIL ADDRESSES FOR ALL OUR MEMBERS. Please send us your e-mail address if you are a member to make sure we have yours. You do not have to be a member to have us do research for you. WE MUST RECEIVE PAYMENT IN ADVANCE OF THE MAILING. WE WILL DO THE RESEARCH AND HOLD IT UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED. Thank you! Is there anyone in the Chester area who is interested in volunteering at RCGS? Two people have always done most of the work. We don't care where you live in the county, but I said Chester because you would be closer. Maybe you could come once a week. RCGS is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays. Maybe you could work just in the morning or just in the afternoon. Please think about this. You are needed! You can call 618-826-3807 on Mon. or Tues. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Velda Wittenbrink Moore vel_chick@verizon.net http://www.larrett.com/velda/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilrcgs/

Anyone working on the Stout/Haynes/Burch/Allen/Kenner families of Kaskaskia? I had a Stout cousin there as late as the early 1990s and am looking for others related to this line. Some of the Stouts ended up in Sparta, Murphysboro, and Herrin, Illinois, including one who married Emma Rose Ann Armstrong of Rockwood. One of the Haynes girls was married to Joshua Burch, who is buried on the island. Some of the others are buried in Ellis Grove. Thanks! Susan
I have no connection to Francis Diehl of OH & IA. I descend from Reifel, with two gr-gr-aunts marrying Nicolas & Peter Diehl in 1853 & 1857, probably in Randolph or Monroe counties, IL. However, there is a remote possibility the Diehls are connected -- that I don't know.
