The Randolph County index books that I have only start at 1877 (as noted on the Randolph County website), and are not exhaustive . There have been none compiled thus far for earlier years, for deaths were not recorded at all like nowadays. If they had been interred in Randolph County, I may have been able to find them since I have the five-volume set of books covering burials in Randolph County, but, since they were buried in Monroe County, I cannot. I sincerely regret being no help to you. Miss Désirée de Nantes <[email protected]>

Hello Everyone, I'm trying to gather information on the DAUER's of Sparta and Schuline, IL. My DAUER line visited people in this area around 1915 and stayed for a year or so. The family was William and Rosa Dauer. They were from New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas, OH. William was about 27 years of age at that time. The children they would have had with them were Marie Dora b 1902, John Joseph b 1906, William Henry b 1909 and Anna Josephine b 1912. We believe they stayed with family there. Anna is still alive and remembers going there by train. She also recalls that there were DAUER relations living in St. Louis at that time. The St. Louis family I think she spoke of is Geoge and Magdelena Dauer. They immigrated to the US in 1873. There was a brother of William's that moved out there for a time as well. His name was Charles "Coxy" Dauer. It is said he got his nickname because he used to lead hunters around and it looked like Cox's army. Charles would have been around 25 then. Not sure if his wife Anna would have been with him. If his family was with him, they would have been twin daughters Jane "Jennie" and Mary, Emma & Charles "Bud". I'm looking for any information that might tie this group of Dauers to mine. I'd be happy to share and compare information with a member of the IL Dauers. Thanks for any help, Julie R. Attention list owners. GRrrrrrrrr!! I just sent a letter to this list describing how I had been infected. I have been on vacation and have a huge pile of mail to go thru. THIS is what a vrus letter looks like. I just opened this thinking that I had something to look at, because I am researching Chester,Ill, with the help of Janice at the library. Not to mention, I have High filters set on my inbox. Very disturbing! I can attest to the truth of this latest virus info. all the best advice here-to-for did not apply. It got in, AND through my Hotmail account which I thought kept me safer than onboard e-mail programs. 3 1/2 days later and I am clean as a whistle. But... the virus people are wary of this Badtrans setting us up for a #2 strike of something more powerful, which will just walk in the door also. So do keep up with the virus updates. Although we sure did caught this time. TeriSue Bru _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
Hello List, I got this from another list I subscribe to and thought it would be useful here. VIRUS discussion is considered OFF TOPIC, if you feel you need to respond to this email, please, do it privately. Do not respond to the list. <<>>Viruses, how they spread.<<>> I am posting the following information in light of the latest version of the BadTrans worm/virus sweeping our Internet. Viruses do not go through RootsWeb's Unix system they come in from someone with email from you in their mailbox. The latest take on these virus, worms, trojans is that you do not need to open them to spread them, also, they do not look like an attachment The virus comes in as a double extension the here are some going around pics.doc.scr, humor.mp3.scr, fun.mp3.pif, docs.doc.pif. I think you can see now what I mean as a double extension. <<>>Viruses, what you can do as a list member.<<>> 1. Have an Anti-virus program and keep it updated. 2. Notify the list manager privately, off list, of who sent a virus. Do NOT forward the message... just the person's email address. 3. Do not get upset if temporarily removed from a list until your machine is clean and you re-subscribe or notify the list manager. <<>>Viruses, protecting your computer.<<>> Load an anti virus program either purchased at a computer store or downloaded from one of the websites such as: McAfee.com Makers of popular McAfee VirusScan product. http://www.mcafee.com/ Symantec Corporation - Norton http://www.symantec.com/ Free Anti-virus Protection! Here is what you can do: Many viruses favor Outlook Express, other email programs not targeted so often are PEGASUS, EUDORA, LOTUS NOTES. PEGASUS & EUDORA have free email programs to download, LOTUS NOTES is generally used by industry, http://pmail.com http://www.eudora.com/ Viewing on the web first is another way to avoid downloading an attachment that may contain a virus. View on webmail at your server before downloading to your desktop. Anything with an attachment can be deleted there generally without spreading the infection to others and/or catching it yourself. Start at your ISP (Internet service provider) Home Page, often there is a link for picking up your email. Don't know it? Try inserting parts of your email address http://www.[instert the @xxx.com here].com (or net, etc.,). My own email address is [email protected] - my ISP home page is: http://www.cwnet.com from there I can find the link (today they have a good article posted as a security alert from CNN posted at: http://www.cwnet.com/index.php?page3Dsecurityalert.htm ) Sites accessible to anyone, anywhere are - Mail2Web - Check your Email From the Web - http://mail2web.com/ MailStart is the Technology Demo for WebBox - http://www.mailstart.com/ Pop3Now is a 128-bit encrypted free web-based email service that lets you access your own POP3 email box. http://www.pop3now.com/ Eudora Web-Mail - Free webmail by the makers of the popular email program. http://www.eudoramail.com/ Here is a discussion group if you need to get further information, or, if you want to check out their archives. Ken, that is correct. I have received about 20 in the last 2 days. Even from some that I do not know. Return Address' always starts with a ( _ ) "dash" which stops any mail from being returned or replied to back as user unknown. Just simply delete the dash when responding back to inform the person that they have this virus. David E. If you have received an e-mail from me with an attachment DO NOT OPEN IT. I seem to have received a virus from someone that I have corresponded with in the past and did open his attachment and it looks like it may have sent this on to everyone in my address book. I hopefully have cleaned my computer but do not want to pass this on to anyone else.
Folks, you must have the latest anti virus programs and check for updates each and every day. Always first thing to do when you go on line is not open your browser or email until you check for updates to your antivirus. you should have one that scans incoming and outgoing email. I got Norton's 2002 and it is great to use with Outlook express. It scans mail I send and recieve and repairs or quarantines before damage done to me or anyone else. Well worth investment. Wil
I don't know if I am the only one receiving these or not, but in the last two days I have received e-mails from members of two different Rootsweb lists. Tonight I received an e-mail with an attachment from Stella Runyon and Lola Crowder. The subject title for Stella's message was: RE: RE: Looking For Moses Frey. There was no message typed in the note, but there was a file attachment called FUN.MP3.pif. I recognized that file name as a potential Virus file so I did not open it. The subject title for Lola's message was: RE:(ILRANDOL) Randolph County Courthouse. Again, there was no message typed in the note and the file attachment was called NEWS_DOC.DOC.scr. Yet, another name for the same Virus. That same file attachment came to me Tuesday night from a member of the EUBANKS Rootsweb list. If anyone else on this list receives these you had better not download the file attachment. Time to update our anti-virus program and then scan the computer for viruses. Ken Soper
Ken.... .... i may well be ONE of the culprits that helped this virus to go to the lists... last nite it was in an email i received, from a person i never heard of. normally i would have deleted that letter and not worried about it, BUT.... with this cussed outlook express i am now forced to use, i am unable to delete emails, unless i first open them... thus, the virus was turned loose. it is the Badtrans virus, and according to norton, attaches itself to ALL the addresses in your list, sending itself to everyone... plus, it contains some sort of trojan that attacks exe.'s, and other things... ...yes.. i am angry enough to chew nails, but it doesn't do any good... and am still trying to get it off my machine... i DO apologize for it going to the lists,.... there was no way i could stop it from happening... Hi, Can anyone tell me how to reach the Illinois Historical Library online and search for which newspapers they have on microfilm? I am interested in Interlibrary loan so I need the microfilm roll numbers. I can get to their website but am not able to search for the newspapers. Jo Anna, I know of an Anderson Family graveyard. It is located on private property (used to be the farm of Jacob Anderson) and is completely overgrown. We visited it two years ago, with prior permission of the owner, and tried to read markers. We found markers that would indicate about 34 or more graves but only seven had inscriptions. The others were just native stones with no inscriptions. These Anderson Family members are my wife's ancestors. They are posted in the RCGS book "Towns & Families of Randolph County Illinois" Are you a relative? I'm searching for anyone who is doing Burgess research. In 1844 David Burgess married Mary Jane McKee in Randolph County, IL. That's it. That's all I know. For many reasons, I suspect that Mary Jane may be a daughter of William McKee (b. 1776 in Ireland). William has lots of records and other children in Randolph County. So--if you're a Burgess research--I'd sure like to hear from you! Pamela Treme [email protected] Land O' Lakes, Florida
