Hi everyone ... For those of you who inquired about the above book, I have finally gotten your information together and will be sending it shortly. I have given some thought to the best way of posting it (since there were so many request) and I think the easiest way is a mass posting to all lists. That way everyone can see who everyone else is researching (not to mention that its a lot easier for me than seeing 50 individual e-mails). Since it is a fairly large list, I will probably break it up into 2 separate postings. There were a few duplicate requests (from different list members), so in hopes of helping make the connection with a long-lost cousin, I will e-mail you privately if you submitted a request for an individual that someone else is also researching. One of the sections that the book provides with each individual is a list of resources where the information came from. I have listed the abbreviations below so you know what they mean and what resources were used in compiling the book. Also, and probably most importantly, I have received several e-mails cautioning about the validity of the information in this book. So I want to remind everyone that we should use this information as a tool and/or a starting point we should not rely totally on the information being 100 percent accurate. Here are the source abbreviations listed in the books bibliography that you will see in the source section. And I will be sending the soldiers information shortly. The surnames I am researching are ACKER, DEGEN, GOEDELMANN, KRAUS, MEES, MUENCH, REIS, ROSCHE, PFIRRMANN. I am trying to find the death date, place and burial of my great, great grandfather, Herman or Philip Herman Acker who probably died about 1861 according to a newspaper article written at the time of his son's death in 1934. Another article stated that this family from Edenkoben, Landau, Germany came to America in 1854 through the port of New Orleans, went to St. Louis and was greeted there by friends or relatives. They later lived in Red Bud, IL in a small building on the James Crozier addition. There was a fire in the building and the family lost everything. Herman Acker's daughter, Fredericke ACKER b.1 Apr 1860, narrowly escaped from the fire. Herman's other child was Henry P.ACKER, and his wife was Christine ACKER, nee GOEDELMANN. This is the extent of what I know of Herman or Phillip Herman ACKER in the U.S. Any help will be appreciated. Darlene Acker Burzynski

Hi., Steve. Whenever you find the time, could you look up Joseph Anderson? It's a long shot, but maybe ..... Jo Anna Dale <[email protected]>
Hi everyone ... I have been deluged with requests (which is a good thing), so bear with me as it may take some time to get the info. I don't have the book on hand and I will get to the library sometime this week to get your information. To answer some of your questions, the book was compiled from a variety of resources and provides dates of birth and death, burial location, spouse name, and various military information (all of which of which is provided if available). Also, I received an e-mail from a lady who indicated that some of the information in the book is not totally accurate, so I might suggest confirming the information via other sources. Nevertheless, I'll get everyone the information as soon as possible. Steve __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I would like to post my offer for lookups on your rootsweb site. I am asking for permission to post in advance so as I don't cross any lines. My site is has been reviewed by the USGW board and supports the work that I do. I know that your state was not as involved in the Civil War as those here on the East coast, but as you know, many veterans moved west following the war. What I do here is to do absolutely free research for those who had one of the 45000 prisoners who were held here. Being that of these 45000 held, and that there were 12960 who died here and are buried in Andersonville National Cemetery..I have dedicated much time to the memory of these men as well all POWS from Union and Confederate sites,,,and all POWS from all American wars. With more than 5 generations time,,this makes for a great number of descendants. Please do not consider this Spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking. ...there has been some mix-ups in dates on the annual music festival, held at Fort Kaskaskia state park, so hopefully this will clarify it. ...the festival is Sept. 21 & 22, Saturday and Sunday... running from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. ...the event is free to the public, but there is a $5 per vehicle parking charge. Food and drink will be available. do bring lawn chairs. ..this is a chance to listen to "good ol'fashioned music" like our grandparents enjoyed... and do some genealogy research of the Garrison Cemetery at the same time! Enjoy! :) Jean [email protected] Webmaster for Illinois Perry and Randolph Counties www.perrycountyillinois.net www.randolphcountyillinois.net [email protected] --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. All, Was out Cole Road Tuesday in Randolph County looking for a cemetery, I did not find yet but, a nice off duty police officer who stopped me coming out of a corn field showed me one. It is before the train trestle on Cole Road. I saw at least 4 or 5 stones standing and several down. The cemetery was very old and most of the stones were unreadable. I did see the name Gatewood or Garwood or some variation, if you do not know where it is you will never find it. If you think this might be kin, contact me. I believe I did see the name James or Elizabeth. Yes Peg, I thought they were ours at first. Randy Crain Paducah, KY
Would anyone know better directions than were on this site last March to the Crain/Clore Cemeteries out Cole Road in Chester. I spent several hours looking today and found neither one. Randy Crain
This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: JOHNSON, SIMMONS, HINDMAN, BROWN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/og.2ADI/120 Message Board Post: Trying to fill in missing detaila about these two families. Kinsey JOHNSON married Rebecca E. SIMMONS in 1858 in Randolph County. Her father was David SIMMONS and her mother was Sarah BROWN who was born in TN abt. 1803. Who were parents and siblings of Sarah? Who were siblings of David? Her grandfather was Levi SIMMONS and her grandmother was Rebecca. What was this Rebecca's maiden name? Who were parents and siblings of Levi? Some of Levi's children were born in Maine and others in Georgia. Can anyone supply more SIMMONS information? Kinsey JOHNSON was the son of Brinkley JOHNSON from Sussex County DE. Who was Brinkley's father and siblings? When did Rebecca die and how did she die? After Kinsey's death, two of her three children were raised by Kinsey's sister, Sarah HINDMAN. What happened to little Sarah JOHNSON who was born abt 1859? Family lore has Kinsey dying with a connection to the Civil War, but I can find no record of his service, although I do find records for his two eldest sons, Richard Duke and James McKinsey. The story also has his sister, Sarah, going somewhere to bring him back to Randolph County, but his probate file contains bills for his final medical care and expenses. Can anyone shed light on this?
