Mr Crain, This is the Darwin Cemetery located "Off Route 3, south of Chester," according to my cemetery books. It has the following listings: a. DARWIN, Elizabeth, born 28 June 1850, died 28 July 1852, daughter of John and Euphemia b. DARWIN, Mary E, born 25 October 1853, died 3 August 1844, daughter of John and Euphemia c. six field stones. Mary GATEWOOD is not listed in my cemetery books, and I have added her to the Darwin Cemetery page...........and thank you for your findings. Miss Désirée de Nantes
I was in Chester today and made another trip to this cemetery I was shown. It is located out Cole Road and is about 1/2 mile from where the pavement turns into gravel. It would be on the left side of the road up a small bank in the woods. I found at least 4 stones that were about half buried and several more that were broken off. One I could not read at all but three did have some legible writing. Elizabeth E - daughter of John and Eupheunne Darwin - Jun 28 1852 - Jul 28 1853 Mary E on one stone - could not read the rest Mary Gatewood - Jun 21 1852 Hope this might help someone. Randy Crain

Hi, I am testing to see if this email is getting through. Dave List Coordinator
Jan, Thank you for looking in the census. I don't think this is our Louis. He could be connected somewhere so will keep this info. My William died in 1934 at the age of 71 so his brother Louis or Louie would have been older than the one you sent. What a quick response to my questions, again a big TX thank you Glenda
Hello, I am new to the list and I am researching WILLIAM SCHILLING, LOUIS SCHILLING, MARY SCHILLING. His parents came from Germany or Prussia and located in Wine Hill, IL. He married a Mary Winkelman from Steeleville. His sister MARY SCHILLING married a HENRY WITTHUS. His brother LOUIS or LOUIE SCHILLING lived in Chester IL. in the 1930's and earlier. I have William SCHILLING family after he married as he was my great grandfather. Looking for info on siblings and parents. Thank you in advance if you have any info on this family. Glenda in TX
Looking for a spiral bound Randolph County plat book. Think it was published in about 1985. One page I have has an ad for Chester Savings and Loan. Might someone know where I can get a copy of the entire book? Randy Crain
Hi, Does anyone know of records of an Irish settlement at Preston. They are mentioned in the 1874 Atlas of Randolph Co. I am also interested in James and Samuel Thompson who were early settlers there. I think they may be part of my line but am not sure. Thank you, Connie
